This new model of the Nikon was launched 2 weeks ago and is taking pre-orders.

Expecting 'excellent' everything from professional photos to HD videos from this RM22,000.00 camera, (price excluding lens) testers and reviewers are getting poor test results from this flagship.

In the first place,do users of Nikon ever know what 1080p HD videos looks like? Since many DSLR users shoot photos 99.99% of their time, do they know what real progressive scanned videos really look like? Ironically, the claim by Nikon for their new flagship's video, is "broadcast quality', it does not do so as reported here.

Blardy Mad as Hell!

What did I do?

It is the first day of the Chinese New Year and I am banned from Klang E-space website.

What kind of good news is that?

I have been a faithful follower of this website ever since its inception and have been proud to have participated and promoted this site as s good portal to promote Klang on the internet. I have also added this site as a recommended read to know Klang better.

My proof? Go to the site here and see for yourself, if it is not taken off already.

Lately, there have been many newcomers posting spams, pornography and pharmaceutical drugs which leaves many in bad taste.

Just today, after seeing some pages of naked women, I began to tell off the poster.

But the site, automatically claimed that I was a spammer thus baning me straight away, accusing me unjustly.

It stated..." My Forum account is currently banned.

Ban reason: Automatically banned by the Akismet system for spamming.

Ban will be lifted: Never!!!!!

I am pissed off by the words "Automatic" and "Never"

What kind of system is this?

Where is justice?

As a senior citizen, I do not spam and I hate pornography.

Dear Administrator, please be fair and investigate properly.

I Scream, You Scream, We all Scream

for Ice Cream Dept.

If one were to carefully read the recent report in the news about the 1Malaysia Hypermart selling Iced Confectionery as Ice Cream, it is time we wake up from our long slumber.

Just a minute ago, I chatted with a younger sister about Sweetened Condensed Milk of the old days and the present Sweetened Creamer. She was shocked to realise that she was ignorant about the truth between the two! Just how many in our age group know this?

Did you also know that this is only prevalent to South East Asia?

We took for granted that creamer is from cream found in dairy products such as milk.

And anything that come with the name such as cows, farm, milk maid, buttercup etc. are dairy products thus are milk based?

Then, why are products permitted to carry such name which could easily mislead consumers thinking they are dairy based instead of chemically ladened mass produced, processed products?

The authorities should be vigilant enough to protect our health conscious public instead of keeping an eye closed until someone bring it up?

The issue of many mistakenly buying Sweetened Condensed Creamer as sweetened condensed milk is still outstanding and many are still unaware about it.

So the Condensed Milk is Dead.

A report two years ago in Lowyat Malaysia, explains.

Whenever there is a global price increase of milk, our local selling price of the so-called 'condensed milk' also goes up. This is a sheer act of profiteering by the manufacturers.

Let us look at the recent hoo haa.

Ice Cream it says.

But is it really ice cream we are eating?

The current price of cream is at RM 10.00 per 250ml and that equates to RM40.00 per Litre. Then, how can a brand sell a 2l tub of their ice cream for only RM5.89??

Something is not right here. Is it cream from old milk?

I strongly suspect that no cream were used. It is made from the very stuff that also made that non-dairy creamer namely 'the-white-stuff'-they-get-from-palm-kernel 'milk' and processed with added chemicals to make it taste and look like dairy milk, derived from cows.

If one were to closely look at the packaging, the product is legally correct. The word printed is so small that as if the makers do not want you to look at it. See if you can hold a frozen tub with your bare hands long enough.

It is now called Iced Confectioneries and not the usual Ice Cream we were so familiar with.

Then what have sweetened condensed creamer got to do with ice cream?

Plenty. Profits that is.

Just use the same cheap 'white-powdered-stuff'' and mix it with more chemicals, then freeze it like crazy and viola!..........................iced cream look alike!

So be careful folks, take care of your children. Do not think that by letting them eat this kind of 'iced cream', you are letting them nourished by mistakenly eating dairy milk. These are highly processed food that are made with loads of flavouring, colouring, additives and what not, that may cause allergy instead.

So remember when buying the real stuff, look for the word "Ice Cream". If no such word then it is a substituted fake.

It is going to be tough because real ice cream is very expensive. Real milk brands like Haagen-Dazs cost around RM38.00 per small tub. No way it is going to be priced at RM5.99 per litre.

Like the real sweetened condensed milk, it will eventually disappear from the market shelves.

Now, Ice Cream is dead!

Night Vision Binoculars

Duh!

Why is it that every time whenever I meet someone while birding or discussing on the subject of binoculars, they would ask me if mine is a "Night Vision" version?

When I asked them why would one need to go birding at night unless one is seeking to observe Owls and Nightjars. I would then get cold sweats at their answers.

Many are so misinformed at the word 'Night Vision'.

They do not know the meaning altogether.

A pair of binocular is just that. A binocular.

They are meant to be used for observation and studying nature such as landscape, animals and for exploration. With latest technologies, glasses are developed with special coatings to improve the quality of images. HD (High Definition) lenses are now being employed to make our viewing more realistic.

Studying colourful birds (with e.g. varied hues) depends largely on the available daylight and it is an ultimate joy to see them as Nature's intended us to see. The Silver-eared Messia in Fraser's Hill is an example. My 20 seconds encounter nearly floored me!

So, back to the subject of Night Vision.

Does that mean that if I see a group of girls in bikinis on the beach at night,

I get to see as if in full daylight like this?

Fat hopes!

You see, Night Vision is not what you think it is. It was developed by the armed forces to track targets for their purposes. One do not see 'daylight' images. One would only see 'thermal imagery' like in heat signals in Infra-red signals. Or blurry greenish 'alien' like 'hantu' visions like this.

They are NOT optical devices but electronic in every sense. A 'camera' is placed in front and a mini LCD viewfinder at the back. Your eyepiece is focused at the viewfinder and the image is processed, amplified & intensified to reach its desired effect. These very optically limited views are very poor in descriptive qualities as far as nature observation is concerned.

Or is it just because some toy manufacturers decided to add red/yellow/orange colors to their lens coatings and claims to be 'Night Vision' so that you would be so impressed and buy it straight away?

The red color coating makes an impression issit?
Now where was I? Oh yeah, I am still wondering what type of BINOCULARS did the Ministry bought for RM50,000.00++? You see, there are no Binoculars made for Night Vision use. None what so ever. Surprised?
You bet your bottom Ringgit!

There are only MONOCULARS not binoculars as the other 'eyepiece' is an Infra-red transmitter which emits IR rays that is being read by the IR receiver!
So just what did the Ministry buy?

For RM50,000.00, I would have checked the contracts and wordings by professionals!!

The Dead Comes Alive and Stinking.

For the last two weeks, reports in the press causes one to smell rotting flesh.

The dead, near dead or those left to die and rot, began showing some signs of movement. As if one did not get the full effect of crap while they were alive, the words came out of their mouth stinks[again] to high heaven!

The taste and smell of salted fish is usually, passionately, acquired to some degree, but these niahmas' breath is a mixture between 'stinko' and 'dunggu'. This composting bloke murmured something about......human rights...! What a dung!

As the Cantonese says " Harm Yee Farn Sarng " literary meant 'even a salted and preserved fish comes alive' It is akin to a packed-dead and dried-fish now swimming alive in a fresh fish tank with air pumps in a hypermarket!

Some who came alive and out of the closet have begun showing us how lucrative Cow Farming is and may be contributing to a book called "Cow Farming for Dummies".

Strangely, equally puzzling to science, how can one exponentially increase 3,000++ head of cattle to 60,000 heads of full grown Cows (not calves, mind you) in 3 years!!

The 'england' is also not clear in defining "Feedlot" or "Feed-a-lot"

Are we missing something?

By the way, did you know that a food dish called "Bombay Duck" is actually salted fish served with chilli paste?

Then, it would be equally interesting to write a book called "Salted-Fish farming in Malaysia 101" !! It beats HOTCATS...an interesting hotdog made in Malaysia.

Puzzling Business Indeed.

Among other shocking report by the Auditor-General besides a pair of binoculars which was ridiculously over-priced, a short report caught my eye.

It was reported in the newspaper today that a Catfish sausage factory failed to start up after spending RM488,000 on equipment which is now left to rot!

Why set up first and look for interested party later?

Catfishes need to be raised and it take years for them to grow.

This is indeed sheer waste of fund and very bad planning by the agro-based entrepreneur development programme. I thought that planning proper and profitable business need careful forecasting and maximizing resources?

By building a factory, buying the expensive equipment and forgetting about rearing the catfishes in the first place is extremely bad planning indeed.

How to set a good example for those folks who could be very interested instead?

Are the planners trained to plan in the first place?

Was also wondering what name would this kind of sausage be called instead of Hotdogs? HOTCATS??

Preparing for the Festival of Lights.

We visited a very busy street here in Klang yesterday.

It was filled with shoppers preparing for Diwali, which is to be held this coming Wednesday, 26th. October.

A lovely hanging 'lantern' is one of the modern contraption that was found selling in Jalan Tengku Kelana, Klang yesterday.

Shops and stalls were geared up selling everything related to the festival ranging from clothes, sweets, balloons, fireworks, etc... to a heavy crowd before a rain storm sets in.

It was also a photographers' delight as sellers willingly obliged to strike many poses with glee.

It also gave us a nostalgic feeling of closeness amongst our multi racial population, built up during the years of togetherness here in Malaysia.

With beautiful festivals like this, we sincerely wish that despite all present negativities 'others' are creating, cool down 'hot heads' so that it would not drive sanity into a deep hole.

To all our Hindu friends, Happy Diwali.

May the Lights shine on our path forever.

Remember, almost two months ago they came and put up the cables and we felt so 'shiok'. We gave them a big smile and they made our day by giving us a reply like....'in two months time'.

The entire team even gave us a pose with big smiles.

This morning I went to investigate. Yup, the Fibre Optic Cables are up.
Wound up in a large roll 15ft up and is hanging on a pole. It stopped there.

That's it. Huh?

Hacked Firmware make the

GH2 closer to RED

It was announced recently that the hacked firmware in the Panasonic Lumix GH2 Micro Four Third camera outperforms any present professional DSLR cameras such as CANON 5DMk11 or the flagship of NIKON in High Definition Video production.

The news about the hack is here.

The AVCHD Intra at 176Mbit can be programmed due to the GH2's tri-core processors. Very unique on this small camera.

That would mean that the GH2, when tweaked, can perform like the World's famous Movie production camera, the RED Scarlet which was used to make "Lord of the Rings".

Ngau Kok

Those were the days.

Gone were the days we had to rely on mother nature to pass our time.

These days, the kids have 'canggih' mobiles to click SMSs, play angry birds, watch videos or getting themselves high on music in 3G.

In our time, if one remembers, we made for ourselves traditional 'toys' to keep ourselves thrilled. One of them 'oldies' was the spinning tops made out of a strange type of 'nut' known as Ngau Kok.

Also known as Bull's Horn or Goo Kuck (hokkien). A piece of string is tied to a 'joss stick' end between two Ngau Koks and is winded-up and pulled.

This spinning 'top' can spin for minutes on ends.

This is popular during the Mid-Autumn 'moon cake' festival. It is also eaten after boiling it and there are claims that it could help those who are suffering from the dreaded cancer.

Now, just where these 'tops' comes from? I was clueless until ten years ago, I discovered it still attached to a live plant in the famous Chachutak market in Bangkok, Thailand.

The actual name is Chinese water caltrop (Trapa bicornis).

Few years ago, we managed to buy some of these 'nuts' to try an experiment. Since it is from a type of water lily, we scattered it into our home pond. It sprouted!

These pictures were taken in 2006.

It sprouted from the top end.
Grew up with runners to reach to the surface. The stem of each leaf begins to bloat creating a 'ballast' similar to our common water hyacinth, thus floating up-right. The nut then rots away. When matured, the plant turn purplish-red in color and new 'nuts' soon occur. A healthy plant may produce up to 20 'nuts'.

In other parts of the world, this plants are treated as nuisance because it overgrows and clogged waterways and canals.
Try asking your friends if they know about the water caltrop. You would be surprised that some will tell you that it came from trees or beneath the ground!!

Yummy Fish Cakes

Who says eating fish is boring?

We made some exciting fish cakes and it is delicious.

It made us looking forward to Fridays, which is a no-meat-day for us, interesting.

Using fresh Tuna fish (no, not the canned type) mashed it with Russet potatoes, onions and egg, pan fried it and viola... fish cakes. Serve it with a large helping of fresh salad, it makes a complete meal.

A different receipe, using some herbs such as curry leaves and jintan manis could turn it into 'fish cutlets' ala Indian style. Yah, you add some hot chillies in it. Yummy!

Well, tomorrow is Friday. A seafood day.

NOAH and the ARK

(Dear readers, please note that this is a very long blog with a long story. I wanted it to break into two parts but then, the impact would not be so 'shiok'. Therefore, please take your time to read and enjoy this. Would not be around to blog for the next four days so, this makes up for it. Thanks, Ed.)

In the year 2008, the Lord came unto Noah, who was now living in Maraysia, and said: Once again, the earth has become wicked and over-populated, and I see the end of all flash before me.

Build another Ark and save 2 of every living thing along with a few good humans.

He gave Noah the blueprints, saying: You have 6 months to build the Ark before I will start the

unending rain for 40 days and 40 nights.

Six months later, the Lord looked down and saw Noah weeping in his yard but no Ark.

Noah! He roared, I’m about to start the rain! Where is the Ark ? Forgive me, Lord, begged Noah, .....‘but things have changed.'

First I need to have a bumi PARTNER who is linked to amenno then I needed a building permit from PK&S and also have to 'kau tim' under counter to get the permit.

Then I’ve been arguing with the BomBbA inspector about the need for a sprinkler system.

My neighbors complained to The Malay Mail of the height of the ark I was going to build and the

next day it was in the headlines claiming that I’ve violated the neighborhood building by-laws

that my Ark is exceeding the height limitations. I appealed to the makamah and it was approved.

The Opposition took advantage of the situation,
and said I was a government crony and did nasty things with my face in the Internet I don’t know how they superimposed my face on a naked body with naked MP’s. I do not even take pictures of any near-naked politicians and portrayed it on the YOU TUBE.
Oh Lord, you are the all knowing and I did not take the photos of any politicians or MPs.

Then there was a another stop work order even before I could start work. The Badan Cegah

Rasuah arrested me for pornography.

I talked to a lawyer who looks like Ambitah Bachan, talk like him, Acts like him but is

not him …said he knows the Chief Justice and the Plime Minister the Apa ..nama … and can clear my name but i have to buy them tickets to Austriilia.

After clearing my name …I had to again go to the PK&S Appeal Board for a decision to allow

me to build the Ark.

Then government after approving the plans said I must use only SiRIM approved goods and

must buy from their list of CLASS Fk contractors,
which are 15 times more expensive than the cina apek hardware shop.

Then the T&B and JpJ demanded a bond be posted for the future costs of moving power lines

and other overhead obstructions, to clear the passage for the Ark ’s move to the sea.

I told them that the sea would be coming to us but they would hear nothing of it.

Getting the wood was another problem. SuKHAM and the JABATAN HuTANg NEGARA

said there’s a ban on cutting local trees in order to save the orang utan.

I tried to convince SuKHAM and JABATAN HuTANg NEGARA that I needed the wood to save

the orang hutan – but they said no go.

When I started gathering the animals, Jakun and SPCA sued me. They said I cannot put the chickens,

and the pigs,
next to each other as it WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED HaLLAL and the animal group insisted that I was confining wild animals against their will. They argued the accommodations were too restrictive,and it was cruel and inhumane to put so many animals in a confined space.

Then JaBATAN KERJA RAYA AND JaBATAN KaJIAN dan GaLIAN ruled that I couldn’t build the Ark until they’d conducted an environmental impact study on your proposed flood.

I’m still trying to resolve a complaint with the Human Rights Commission on how many

bumiputra contractors I’m supposed to hire for my building crew.

JABATAN ImMIGRASI and ReLA are checking the status of most of the people who want to work.

The trade unions say I can’t use my sons. They insist I have to hire only union workers with Ark-building experience.

As I started to CLEAR THE AREA TO BUILD THE ARK, 6 gangsters came and demanded for protection money.

And said they will control the area for selling of drugs and prostitution to my workers.

When I complained to the PuLISs… the next day the PIG of PuLISs sent an ASaP who came

in full uniform. The following week, the six gangsters who were demanding protection money, doubled my protection fee.

Then there was a by election and I was forced to be an AmenNO member to get my permits

approved and made to pay a donation by the Balisan candidate in the so called spirit of MUHIBBLAH other wise he will make my life difficult when I did not, as I was already your member.

Every department I turn to is asking what they call “Kopi Wang”.

I calculated that if I had to pay all the so called “Kopi wang” and give the

donation the cost to build the ARK will be 20 times more higher… I refused to give them the

Kopi Wang as I am faithful to you, Oh Lord.

Then some top level politicians were very disappointed with me for not giving donations and called me a murtad but i told them my name is Noah, not murtad, they got very angry and said they have connections

Suddenly I am a suspect behind the murder of a Mongoloid lady because the place where she was murdered happens to be near the land where I am going to make the Ark and was arrested.

To make matters worse, the Jabatan HaSIL seized all my assets, claiming I’m trying to leave the country illegally with endangered species. I have just been released from ISA.

So, forgive me, Lord, but it would take at least 10 years for me to finish this Ark.

Suddenly the skies cleared, the sun began to shine, and a rainbow stretched across the sky.

Noah looked up in wonder and asked, ‘You mean you’re not going to destroy the world?’

‘No,’ said the Lord.

‘The Gormen beat me to it!’

Was photographing using both the Rollei and the Leica Macro lenses for real close up shots. The results were amazing as sharpness and color reproduction from these top quality lens were expected. Shot both in JPEG and RAW.

This two shots of wild flowers (below) were taken with the Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm f/2.8 ASPH macro lens (micro 4/3 format)

The objective of STPM
is to pass people?

(This is a re-post of my blog of 11th. August, 2009)

How do you explain the fact that 87% of the students passed the exams of the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) recently, when during your father's time only 10% would have passed?

Are students getting smarter? Or are STPM questions getting easier?

Let me put things in their proper perspective. During your grandfather's time, they would ask exam questions like: "In what year did Parameswara founded the kingdom of Melaka ?"
The correct answer was "1402", and they found that only 10% of the students managed to answer the question correctly. This didn't go down too well with the authorities, because the objective of the exams was to pass people. I mean, what's the point of having exams if people fail?
So later, they found another way to ask the same question:
"Parameswara founded the Kingdom of Melaka in the year:
(a) 2007, (b) 2004, (c) 1996, (d) 1989, (e) 1402. Tick the correct answer."
The results were better in that 20% of the students passed.

But it was still not good enough, so the authorities tried a different tactic a few years later.
"Parameswara founded the kingdom of Melaka in the year 1402. True or false?"
Well, half of the students guessed "True" and the other half guessed "False". Fully 50% passed.
The results were getting pretty acceptable by now but still not good enough. Most other countries would be satisfied with a 50% passing rate, but not us. We are a better country, because we are a 'boleh' country.

The authorities then cracked their heads and then came out with this one:
Read the following sentence carefully.
"Parameswara, the cousin of Proton-Iswara, founded the Kingdom of Melaka in the year 1402.
Underline the name of the person who founded Melaka."
60% underlined "Parameswara", 30% underlined "Proton-Iswara" and 10% underlined "1402".
Yeah!!!!....60% managed to pass! So krever!

But for some reason, the authorities were still not contented. So last year, they came out with this gem:
"One day in the year 1402, Parameswara founded the kingdom of Melaka. Then he went home to have dinner. What did he eat?"
13% (smart students) handed in blank answers,
57% wrote "Maggi Mee",
10% wrote "Kentucky Fried Chicken"
and 20% wrote "Nasi Lemak".

The correct answer was anything concerning "Food" of course!
After the marking was over, it was found that 87% of the students had passed. 87%!!!!!............now that's pretty impressive!

So it's true.
So now the authorities are very happy that the students are indeed getting smarter?
Well done Boleh-land!

Perhaps, this is why we have a host of students with an impressive string of 'As' who can hardly construct a decent sentence!

Neow mind, our super-duper gomen can find a job for us one.

Duh……"Malaysia Boleh" !

Many may not have seen this, but because of what I have seen AGAIN yesterday at another shopping complex in the city, it is definitely a case of concern.

Are these guards overworked? Why are they sleeping on the job especially with a loaded gun?

Are these guard fully trained to be guards? Are they fully trained to handle a loaded weapon which can hurt and kill innocent bystanders if I is careless? Are they Malaysians?

The so called 'security guards' patrolling our streets in our 'guarded taman' (garden) are of either Bangas, Nepalis,Myanmaris...etc. and are lowly paid. Do they know our laws?

Our resident bird,

The set-up took 4 days.

Under the cover of heavy shading and camouflage, our Alpha male in full breeding plumage struck a pose.

He co-operated by sitting pretty, preening and cleaning and what a handsome guy he is.

He's got competition because there is another guy around.

He is our new visitor.

We are proud to announce that another species have just visited our home. He is a cousin of the Olive-backed (Nectarinia jugularis) [below].

The brown-throated Sunbird (Anthreptes malacensis) [above] have arrived. He is much bigger and have more colors than the Olive-backed.

This new pair ( a gurl too) have made a nest on our mango tree.

Yup, the same tree that the pesky kitty was lurking above. (Please see my last post)

We are patiently waiting to complete another ultra close-up shot on this new bird.

Btw, the kitty is no more.

According to a neighbour of ours, the bad kitty got hit by a truck!!!

I suspect that all da birds have something to do with this! Ha!Ha!

Cat Attack

Few months ago, we were invaded by neighbour's cats. Seven of 'em. (less two but added two again!) They killed our seven year old Japanese Koi fish from our pond. One gave birth to four kittens on our vegetable planter box. The rest shit-ted and pee-edd in our garden thus making our beloved home, their toilet!

We were then worried for our other Kois and of course, our birds. Feathers were found among the flower pots. This time, we caught two of them in the act. On Video.

Blardy cats, they should be playing with their fellow pussies in their own home. But no. Their owner does not give a two hoots even after we made some complaint. Blardy shit, they have just declared WAR after killing two Merbuk (dove) babies and left their mummy, half featherless in our house.

They got into our home by walking on trees! The main gate proved too deadly I guess!

Totally protected and rare, the Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus also known as Hyacinth Macaw and is a beautiful bird. RIO is an animated movie on this specie and was shown recently at our cinemas.

No, I did not see it in the cinema because I did not know anything about this movie and darn, I have missed it.

It is now on Blu-Ray disc and seeing it at home in High Definition is truly an experience.

The music score was done by one of my favourite music man, Sergio Mendes.

The Ends 'is' Near!

Surprise.

I was wrong when thinking about UNIFI, TM Net's fibre Optic Broadband.

When seeking desperately for when are we getting UNIFI to our home here in Klang, we did not get any positive news from the internet, the media...etc. No favourable reply even from Kedai Telekoms. I even concluded that I may not be so lucky after all, to experience UNIFI. And day in, day out, we have to suffer in silence with the snail paced 1MB Streamyx which go bonkers almost everyday. Not forgetting the blood suckingly expensive Asstro.

Yes Streamyx and UNIFI belongs to Telekom Malaysia.

Then this morning, BANG!! A sound of a fall of an aluminium ladder in our back lane.

There was a commotion with chattering of human voices.

Upon investigation, we were surprised to find that there was a team of contractors pulling cables and climbing telephone poles. These are fibre optic cables. Yup, UNIFI's.

So, the end is near.

Or should we say, the 'ends' are near.

Cut Back Time.

With everything costing us so much, we, like other 'smart' people, do what is necessary and effective.

In a household, many items are important such as food, electricity, necessities such as sundries and toilet rolls.

Then, the others are newspapers, internet and TV programmes.

We cut off the damn newspaper years ago because of it's lopsided reporting. It tells us what we should read, what we should see, what we should do and how we should think. Until lately, it began to tell lies. Blardy heck, you mean to tell me that I have to PAY money to read lies? Blardy fark!

I got choice. No need to read and no need to waste money.

I got internet.

Then the TV.

How come a MONOPOLISTIC company, given 20 frigging years of monopoly, still do not make enough money to survive? Happily boasting increased subscribers yet their programmes are repeated 'till kingdom come'? I am begining to see hairs on monkeys' balls (in HD) everytime the documentary repeats for almost a year. And now, it is some hippopotamus' balls! Even after paying an extra RM20 for HD, the shows are repeating itself.

Next.

Last month, they wrote us a letter seeking to 're-adjust programming' for our viewing pleasure.

Pleasure my Poot!.

Blardy fools, if you want to increase price just say so lah.

Don't write as if we have just landed on earth from another planet. They wanted RM4 increase.

Anandoholes, they say that due to high cost of operation, they want more money.

Bullshit! As if we were already not burdened with increased petrol cost, sugar,tax,fees,service charges,credit card tax, Indah Water 'throw-shit-away' fees, electricity, internet..................

They should have sacked all the deadwoods in their company to save cost. Starting at their stoopid Asstro Magazine that all of us cannot read nor understand. Waste paper also.

It looks like it is not only us that is feeling being 'put-into-cow-dung' by Asstro. Last week, six of our friends and relatives cancelled their subscription with the satellite service provider. They too were fedup. Bravo guys, way to go.

Moreover, TMNet's UNIFI is coming around the corner so we are looking forward to better internet speed AND watch TV at the same time. Cheaper also lah.

Back to our case.

When we received Asstro's lame duck letter, we not only disagree in giving in to their demand on the RM4.00 increase, we CUT BACK our package. Instead of paying RM110.95 a month, we now pay RM75.95/month. Ha!Ha!

They wanted an extra RM4.00 and we give them RM25.00 (+Rm4.00) less!!

Please take our warning Asstro, if we do not get anymore free (10 new channels in HD) within three months, we will cancel our membership entirely. You get nothing from us.

Of course we also get nothing from you (as if we are already getting something special )

All of us might as well fit an illegal satellite dish obtainable from East Malaysia, without paying blood sucking fees to you any more.

Just like our neighbour did.

Now We Know Why!

While cruising along inside a Hypermart, we spotted a surprise.

Now we know why that every time when we ask an assistant for help, he/she is always clueless and/or trying to ask us to bugger off. Why?
We found out that one was very 'busy' playing games on the PC!
Poor thing, Hypermart. Paying 'buta' for the salary. The services rendered at these supermarkets 'sucks' nowadays and we can feel that there are no effort being made to train them for better efficiency.

Ever try them when asking for a different size/model? It is always "tak tahu"[dunno] or "sudah habis" [sold out]or "no stok" [awaiting stocks to fall out of the sky]
Where else can one get a cushy job, pay's ok, no need for hard work, air cond. environment, comfy,and play computer games some more!

There is this world's famous petroleum brand from Malaysia doing things upside down.
At the end of the North South Expressway at exit toll towards Klang, the new petrol station made a booboo.

At the compressed air service point, the 'psi' guide was placed at a position that only when one stand on his/her head, they can get a correct reading of the tyre pressure.
No, we did not bring it up to the management of the station. Why?
Can't they see for themselves that the bloke who rivetted the panel is half cocked? Don't they see for themselves whether it is correct after they installed them?

Ball Point Pens?

As if our dear country is running out of ball point pens.

For the last 10 months, there is this foreign-looking-lady knocking at car windows asking for cash and is now selling ball point pens. What have happened to our dear country? Why is this allowed?
Are the authorities sleeping as usual? Close one eye?

These photos were taken in December last year.

I suspect that this elderly female beggar is from a third world country. She does not look local and is begging right in front of us everyday and a highway junction is no exception. Bigger traffic jam means more customers. This is begining to look like Ethiopia!

Kesian Malaysia. Sudah jatuh standard and by the way, just look at the rubbish on the road. This is a 'toll-ed' Highway dammnit!
Want to see her? Just go to the (tolled) Lebuh Raya Selat Klang highway junction (route 20) connecting Jalan Meru (route B1) in Klang. The GPS co-ordinance is at: 3degrees 04' 21.75" N and 101degrees 26' 59.28" E

We saw her at it again yesterday at 2.55pm. Business must be that good.
What is the Immigration Department doing? Easily by now, thousands of vehicles would have seen her.
When will they act? Until she gets settled down and with a dozen of kids joining her to sell ball point pens..... izzit?

Received a chain letter in the mail (again) today. Duh!

It is supposed to be something about receiving bags of money, if I participate.
It is a blatant hoax.

It started something like that in July (next month), there would be five Fridays, five Saturdays and five Sundays.

The con artists at the feng shui arts says it happens once every 823 years and it is very auspicious (as if!) and one would be receiving bags of moollahs. No need to work hard !

Is that so? 111, a money bag year? A trick!

Did it happen 823 years ago? Huh?

In the year 1188? Or before that in year365AD?
Any historic record evidence?

Since feng shui is an ancient art, any old scholars want to own up? Really? Money bags and 111.
By the way, in 2012 (next year) there will be five months having five Mondays, five Tuesdays, five Wednesdays, five Thursdays, five Fridays, five Saturdays and five Sundays (in total)!!!!
So what so special?

Contaminated Food

Made a press complaint on what happened at breakfast.

We bought a pack of fresh pastry puff from the Bakery Dept. at Tesco Hypermarket, Setia Alam on May 23.

The next morning, I ate the first one and felt funny. The taste was way off.
I decided to cut open the second puff and was shocked to find that it was full of mould.
Yes, the fungus type.
In our food and it is anyone's guess that it could send one running to the toilet shitting 'bricks'!!!
How can a giant Multinational Company allow such poor food safety standard to go by?

Weeks before I had a bad case of food poisoning and my doctor took it for the change in weather. I recalled eating the same bad pastry puff from the same Hypermart!!!
I failed to take this as a warning.

As a photographer, I quickly reached for my camera and shot some photos and video clips.

Thanks to technology, the macro shots came out brilliant and also to Leica optics. You should see the Full High definition Video too!!!!
Yes, although the pack was on offer, the expiry date is valid. By the looks of it, it is not even entirely safe for human consumption.
Can I sue them for any health compensation?

We shop at this TESCO every week and have encountered hygiene concerns before. We have already made many complains and have blogged about it.

I was even injured with a bleeding finger one evening while using a faulty tap at their fish counter. All these came to naught even with apologies from their many 'managers'.

I lost count.

In my previous blogs, I have made official complaints about their dirty trolleys. They have noted and promised to look into it but even after more than a year, the trolleys are still in such dirty state.

Are our safety Food Standards going down the drain???

Made an official complaint to the Malay Mail Hotline.
This is their report of 2nd June.

When I went to meet them to settle this matter, they offered me a voucher and a no-liability letter to settle things. Not only I found this very insulting, I totally rejected this.

Therefore, this issue is NOT settled.
I was sold contaminated food period.
And by saying it publicly that the matter have been resolved, it is a blatant lie.
This is shameful.

My family and I will NOT shop here anymore. In fact we will NOT shop at any TESCO outlet anymore.

This is very shocking as it is a Multinational Company.

I suspect something is dearly lost-in-translation.

On the radio almost every night for the last 3 weeks, I heard the brain-chilling phrase used again and again for the last 10 years or so.

It is the dreaded "...I support the 30 day famine...by World Vision...."
Just what is this 30 day Famine?

In the old school, famine is used to describe severe shortage of food and is a suffering period.
Also in the old days, famine happens when there are severe drought and invasion of locust causing destruction to the food production, thus nothing for humans to eat.

In modern times and with high technology, we can and have minimized famine.

Just note the suffering.
Therefore famine is NOT a nice word to use.

Then again just what the heck is this catch phrase "30 day Famine"? Can anyone plan a time for famine? The duration of a famine?
The web site for World Vision (HQ), a charitable Organisation have no details for this 30days
thinggy but the Malaysian site have lots of this poorly concocted 'famine' word.

Come on lah, just cut off this poorly directly translated word as it is getting silly & boring and out of hand. Nobody wants to support a 30-day suffering but maybe, thirty days of 'fasting' against famine perhaps.

Maybe, when World Vision Malaysia gets it corrected, I may want to donate to this charity for the first time.

Chinese Pond Heron
Was driving home one afternoon and spotted a migrant in full breeding plumage.

Grabbed my Panasonic Lumix GH2, changed its lens to the 200mm TeleZoom, selected ETC 'on' and shot the bird. Thanks to James and Bitty of Photo Malaysia who id-ed this heron double quick as the usual color and pattern are not the same normally. Even the bill is in two colors!

Was in time for its quick meal and a 'shake' afterwards.

Enough is Enough One of my 7-year old Koi is dead.

And this evening, another Koi was badly scratched but survived. What happened?

There is an intruder in our garden. In fact, there are seven intruders in total. They kill for fun. Not they are hungry but well fed.

Our birds are also at risk. They all roost around our garden and have made their homes here. They have done so for the last seven years. Our Sunbirds, Magpies, Peaceful Doves and Tailor Birds are wild and flies freely. Until now.

The neighbours have a combined pest of seven fat cats. Not only they used our garden as a place to poop and shit. They have now killed our Koi fish. In our garden pond. And the birds. This evening, another attempted kill. Dear readers, what shall we do? Is it a crime to rid this problem? The particular neighbours do not give a shit what their cats do. They personally 'supervised' MPK to catch and kill stray dogs recently but it is all right for their damn cats to invade our private property to shit and kill. Damn neighbours.

Dear readers just what shall we do? Is it OK to rid this problem in our own property?

Do we wait till another Koi fish to get killed? The birds? Dear readers, just what shall we do?

Coming Up Just received an adaptor to fit up my old Bellow Unit (Minolta) to my Lumix GH2. This is the Micro Four Thirds to MD lens.

Tested and shot some ultra-macro HD Videos and on Cinema 24p Mode. This is the set up.

The bellow unit have twin macro focusing feature on its slide-rail.

Satellite Dish It is sprouting all over Klang. Many homes are now fitting (legal?) satellite dishes which I was told, can receive 300plus World TV channels FREE of subsciption charges! One just got to buy a complete set which includes a 'so called decoder', a ten-foot dish including cables for about RM1,600.00. That is all. No other charges & free of monthly fees. I was also told that we do not pay any licensing fees as we would have to bear the loss should we be caught by the authorities!

Caught by the authorities? Which authority? Police? MPK? Is that fair to all ASSthrow customers who are paying at least RM1,600.00 per year for a standard package or RM3,600.00 per year with super-dupersports/movies/repeats/........etc.

Is that true? Maybe I go join my neighbour to fit one set. The same dish adjusted even higher, yesterday. What's the difference when satellites are located miles above our earth and do an extra 10 feet count?

The authorities cannot even spot a TEN FOOT dish located on top the roof of the house so FULLY EXPOSED! Maybe my neighbour is from East Malaysia (noticed his pick-up truck's registration number plate) and it is OK to use it there, but then, this is West Malaysia. Are there TWO sets of Law in this Country? It also look like it is getting Lawless! Up yours Authorities! Fook the LAW!

Adaptor

Saved A Lens The adaptor for my new GH2 have arrived. It allows me to use one of my old 35mm SLR lenses, the Rollei HFT Planar 50mm f/1.8, to the Micro Four Third camera. Have tested it today. Typical of German lenses, the first few shots were excellent. The stills were extremely sharp but slightly over exposed. I will try it with a (ND) neutral density filter. Later, would be doing a few HD Videos trials. The vintage Rollei lens. This QBM (Quick Bayonet Mount) to m4/3 fitted perfectly. Naturally as with old SLR lenses, the aperture and focus would strictly be on manual selection. Do not forget to select "shoot without lens" on the camera setting. Why in another 365days?

Is Cancer, a fun disease to play around with?
Some of our friends are already in 2nd stage Cancer and the suffering we have seen is not a joking matter.

The Star today reported this.

Just why is our health ministry not serious over the health of our dear babies?
It is already CONFIRMED that polycarbonate bottles used for baby feeding and for school going kids would contain a Cancer causing chemical BPA and would be very dangerous to use.
The Consumer Association of Penang have already sounded the alarm since 1998 and what is our beloved gormen doing? Still doubting CAP?

Now our top gormen officials is giving a 365 days notice to impose a ban of use of such bottles.
Why another 365 days?
Is it that there are already so many local manufacturers making such bottles that the gormen fears that they could go bankrupt? Who is the gormen protecting? The faithful citizens or the money-grabbing maufacturers? F*^k it gormen!

I recall a case some two years ago that the red colouring which is banned worldwide, was still in use in the manufacturing of sausages, hotdogs, meat products etc. was also given a year reprieve as a 'pr*ck of a minister saying that .."...you can still use it till your stock runs out then we will prohibit the import after that..." F*^k it, because many thousands would be eating it till they get the big 'C'.

So, anyway, it looks like it is the famous "buyer beware" cliche all over again. The well informed survives and the ignorant dies. Izzit? Blardy gormen, must everything be about money?

So what about those large colorful polycarbonate water bottles being sold by the thousands at hypermarkets?
I see almost every school going kids carrying one. Is putting chlorinated water safe in PCB bottles? Tea?

I really do not know about the rest of you but I would suggest to our gormen to do it NOW!!! Not tomorrow or the day after but do it this minute, NOW!!!

Finally, in Place.

Still working on my new Panasonic Lumix DMC GH2. As there is a World shortage of this camera including its accessories, I managed to get my hands on the most sought after (std) lens today.

The original lens that came with the camera was the 14~42mm which has dismayed many because being a flagship camera for Lumix many expected better.
The actual lens should be the 'special' HD lens the 14~140mm which is meant for Video shooting. Yes it would cost more but who is complaining when the GH2 is actually a professional camera?

Here is my line up.

[The GH2 is now fitted with the 14~140mm HD lens, the Leica 45mm macro for extreme close-ups (left) and the 'bird shooter' is the 45~200mm (right).] These are all Micro Four Third lenses.

Now, it is completed.

Thanks Panasonic!

In one hour, the folks at the Customer Care Centre of Panasonic solved my problem.
It was confirmed that the Electronic Viewfinder was faulty. I must say that it may be the first ever known in a GH2 and perhaps in the entire G series.
The risk I had taken is understandable because being the first very few in this country to own one and buying it even that it is not officially launched here in Malaysia.

The viewfinder was replaced with a new one.

I am happier now.

Was at Bukit Malawati in Kuala Selangor this morning. Testing out my new Panasonic Lumix DMC GH2 Camera , a Micro Four Third System. The result was astonishing. Never expected
it to perform beyond expectation, especially for my use in videographing birds.

You see, this is a new & revolutionary photographic design and it is going to change the photographic world by surprise. You see, DSLR is actually a digital version of the old system called SLR (single lens reflex).

With new technologies, it was discovered that the need for the mirror and a large penta-prism (so common in DSLRs) is outdated. Moreover, it is bulky and large! Just see those 'bigger-than- your-hand DSLRs. The lenses too are huge and costly!

So, why pay and suffer? Is it more macho to hold such huge cameras?

GH2's ETC [Extra Tele Conv] turned the 300mm lens to a humomgus 1,560mm without ANY loss of Image Quality & Light.

It is NOT the so called digital zoom so commonly found in other cams. This GH2's surprising performance which I believe that even the marketing department people at Panasonic did NOT know about! Please read this site in regards to "Free Lunch".

Zoologist Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine was in New Zealand photographing a rare bird called Kakapo.

The male bird complied after giving them some "strike-a-pose" action and got horny with the camera man.

The Kakapo kept on 'humping' his head and go 'flap, flap, flap'. All he could do is just to say 'ouch, ouch, ouch!' ! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Now I have to be careful while birding or photographing birds in our wilds. Who knows what can happen?

Rare What Orchid?

Very lucky to capture an extremely rare orchid species from the Arfak Mountains in Papua New Guinea. It bloomed in our home garden here in Klang.

The last bloom was in 2005 due to climatic change, it usually blooms once a year.

This strange orchid features a prehistoric look with scale-like texture and a dinosaur head!

I believe this HD Video clip is the first one being shot.

Those were the days when I was very impressed by the speed of service (at that time the taste of fast food's good too). It was in 1965 when PJ had its first drive-in located near Taman Jaya, New Town Centre. Things were very impressive and neat. The staff was polite and seemed to understand everything you said or ordered.

Fast forward to Monday, 17th. January, 2011 at 20.32hrs. (yesterday) At a spankingly new shop, in a spankingly new building still smelling of new paint, this Fried Chicken Joint stinks!!!
There were SIX counters and were manned by six newly uniformed staff and only two were opened! The rest were seen joking, chatting and laughing away while we waited at the queue for 6 minutes. Two of them were seen SMS..ing away!

Mother of the Great Fornicator, I was told to wait another 10 minutes for the 'original receipe'!!
Is this something new?

No. This have been going on for a while now.

The same goes to the other brands too.

Usually if one gets into a situation like this, it is either that by chance, ALL other eateries outside this joint have closed for that day or have gone kaput. Possible? ....Or on that day, that Fried Chicken tasted extremely delicious or something to die for! Possible? ....Or also on that day, that Fried Chicken were "eat-all-you-can-and-for-FREE! Possible? ......bollox!

Burger Joints are no different too. They are begining to suck big time.

What happened is this.

Fast Food (or Junk Food) is a growing business. These Freezer to Fryer stuff IS very convenient to prepare and easy to sell off. The Franchising waiting list is very long. Many are waiting to jump into this bandwagon because the investment is lucrative and the returns are good. Also ever notice that many locals are working here? (...also like in hypermarts...that is another sad story). It is shiok to work in an aircond atmosphere minus the sweat & discomfort, free food, free uniform, free transport, gaya pun ada.....
So, back to the service problem.
Many are trained via textbooks and/or from superiors (who are also trained from textbooks) whose higher bosses are also trained with textbooks. With mushrooming growth of outlets, where got time to train by experiences? Especially human (customers') handling and satisfaction? You can practically feel their inefficiencies and pretense behind their false smiles! They really lack training in handling customers and their attitude towards the business is poorly lacking. It is only in Malaysia that when ordering, I truly do NOT understand what was being repeated about my order!! No problem while ordering in Mumbai, India!
So much so, that everytime when I order food, I get the feeling of ..."Yes sucker? What is your poison this time? Huh?...service sucks?...Why you so rude wan? Why don't you get lost? We don't serve whining idiots like you! Next?" ..."..and by the way sir, have a nice day by going forth and multiply!"
To conclude, these fast food outlets are turning to be a curse. What you'd get is frustration while ordering your food, un-necessary wasting of your time, poorly prepared and half cooked food, and now, even a newly opened shop smells like rotting milk. Hygiene, my friend, hygiene is gonna bring you down one day.

By the looks of who usually patronises such type of eateries, one can tell that the future generation is going to be very sick (pun intended)

For me, Adios........(or at least reduce the addiction and crave for fast food ..if ever possible)

Now...just where is that nasi lemak stall.....? It is not only cheaper...but at least, I am not being treated like an idiot!

Everytime you enter a supermarket/hypermarket, you would be 'attacked' by people either selling things
from induction cookers, encylopedias,
Exercise machines..blah blah. They surround you and speaking in languages one may not understand!

Since the retailing sectors are not improving, these young lass and lads were employed to uses these type of selling as a training ground to do hard selling. They literary start to climb all over you even you wished not to listen to them. Those infamous "Scratch and Win" folks are somewhere in the middle of things and whenever they hooked a poor 'fish' these victims would wish that they (the victim) had not been born. The scam is gruesome.

Want worse? Try getting out after the cash payment counters and they eagled-eyed your every move and zoom in for the kill the moment you push your trolley out. "UNKA! UNKA! this gadget saves you electricity."...."Our Credit Card has no joining Fee... on top of that we give you one teddy bear! (Just whadda F*** for?)"
Bankcard, bankcard and more bankcard. Now I know why so many idiots got into repayment problems!

Just last evening, this deaf (purposely) promoter came all over me over an induction cooker! This was not the first time. He spoked very loudly and in mandarin language that I could not really understand. What I did was deemed polite. I stopped, looked at him. I put up my right palm as a sign to stop him from speaking. He did not stop blabbering. Next, I place my right hand and fingers to show him a 'hush' sign which is meant for 'please stop speaking' and of course I am not interested what he has to say or sell. I moved on. But he still followed and spoke even louder!

I stopped, turn around and started walking towards him. I kept quiet and still with my fingers on my lips indicating that I need some peace and quiet. And that would also meant for him to zip up. That worked. (should that fail, I may try, the next time, to bring along a baseball bat)

So folks, be firm and say a big NO to these kind of irritationg idiots who do not want to take a no for an answer. Do not be cowed and walk away quietly. I heard once a degratory remark made to an old couple when they ignore them. With the internet, just what else can one 'Not' be able to buy what these blokes are selling? We are not that dumb you know.

Just where are the manners of such pushy and rude sales people? Their superiors? managers? Just what kind of grooming is this. Shame on you, Banks, for outsourcing these idiots who had reduced the brand image to look s0 low (or no) class.

So typical of the Authorities that even declaring a holiday and announcing it causes it so much confusion. Some say it it a Public Holiday and to some, it was a holiday only for the Civil Servants.
Can Business go on? What kind of business? By the time we sort this out, the holiday would be over! It was announced that employers need to pay their staff 'extra' if they work today. A small foreign setup located here have now to pay the 'extra' but the boss is out of the country not realising eleven men chasing a small ball did our country good.

Shucks, sudden public holidays do confuse. It must be renamed PUBIC Holidays.

Again, another advice about food safety. It is begining to look like food produced for the mass market is giving us and our children something to worry about. Just what is our future going to be?

Almost 99% of Salmon sold here in Malaysia are farmed. Wild Salmon is not available via the Hypermarket. I also suspect that most Shushi joints uses farmed Salmon because it is cheap. Wild Salmon was never encountered by us on the menu at Japanese Restaurants here.

The above alert is a wake up call and for us, citizens of Malaysia, how are we ever to know just what is safe to eat anymore? Building more hospitals to treat Cancer is not a solution. Building more hospitals fitted with the latest 'thingamagik' would make medical fees higher.
We the citizens, not only suffer physical pains when such dreadful disease hit us but the financial shock would lead us to think that dying from the disease would be a better alternative. When one survives after the costly episode, do we have any money left to live the rest of our lifes?

It is dawning on us that our Health Ministry is not in control about what we eat or what is there to eat safely. We in Malaysia do not have a separate Government Authority about food and drug safety like in the leading developed countries. Mixing the functions within the Health Department is NOT effective and may be contradictory because we as the citizens would be in a lose/lose situation.

Folks, it is high time that we lobby for a Food and Drug Safety Ministry. Do it for the sake of our children. The terms "..the right hand do not know what the left hand is doing...." and " can't tell the difference between an elbow and an arse..." is getting real!!

The recent tragedy in Cameron Highlands is sure going to start an all time favourite game...i.e New reality game in town called the ''GFPE' ....."the Greatest Finger Pointing Exercise"!!!!!!

The unfortunate accident which took 27 lives was reported in the National Newsprints here.

First, any school going kid can tell you about the "Center of Gravity" subject in the science lessons. Playing playdoh to Lego proved the same. Tall objects when moving will tilt on the top.
Then how come our beloved Minister (transport), his advisors, his engineers, his Scientists ....blah.blah do not know such problem? Did they go to school in the first place?
Second, if one expert says that it was designed for level road use, then why was it used for highland travels? Shortcut to the road of monetary profits? Close one eye? No Buhjet?
Thirdly, there are already 13 Governmental Agencies involved in the regulations of express buses yet this happened. Just how many more agencies do we still need? Another 100?

Fourthly, it must have caused so much headache to the tour operators that mistakes like this is bound to happen. It was also quoted that "......left hand must know what the right hand is doing"
By the looks of things, the poor victims may have also lost their right hands, left hands, right legs, left legs, some toes, fingers., eye, teeth, dentures..........all because of this?
Deepest Condolences to all that have lost their dear ones.

In the next few days, let us see what goes. See who gets away, who gets nailed and afterwards....all back to normal.......................until another accident strikes.

Just wondering....it we were to put four elephants in 2 rows and place the same above them, would not it be like a sight of the double decker bus? Then how come our law enforcers from all 13 Government agencies did not see this happening during this 2 month holiday peak season?
I believe at lease hundreds of trips have already been made.

Was at the garden when a call attracted me.
Our newly planted 'wild banana' tree flowered and was fruiting.
The call sounded like the elusive Flowerpecker and I immediately went into the house to set up my camcorder.
After waiting patiently for half an hour, nope, the Flowerpecker did not show up. All these happened under the watchful eyes of our resident Olive-backed Sunbird whom we called "Sunny".

He zoomed in and sat on my rig! As if examining my camcorder to check for exposure settings!

Coconuts to cost more.
It was reported in the newspapers that the simple coconut's price has increased.
It used to be only 90 sens for a fresh nut at the road side stalls just few years ago. Today it is RM2 each! That would be 100% in 3 years.
In a few months, the 'old' nuts which is commonly used in curries, deserts, cakes etc. would be more expensive. Just why is this so?
Is it just because the tree grows too high to pluck? .....................Issit?

After playing it for the last three days, no wonder it is the Best Selling Franchise of All Time on PS3!
After Call of Duty and Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 2 this Black Ops is part 3 and is one of the most realistic computer game ever.
The best part is the optional (just select it) Pure HD 1080p video and Dolby Digital 7.1 Audio!

Un-necessary Fireworks.

With the increase of price (again) in petrol days ago, just how are we taking it?

The backlash is yet to come i.e. the increase of almost all commodities such as food, transport, travel, sundries....etc. doesn't the public care and worry about this?

The festive season is near. Yes we need to celebrate but then do we have to 'burn' up our hard earned cash to buy these kind of fireworks just to enjoy the 'bang'? While talking to some of our neighbours, we noted that those who plays are usually the ignorant poor and the arrogant rich!

Don't they need to save some cash for the 'rainy' days? How about saving the cash for the old folks? I am sure most have them at home and my bet would be they may need some sort of medical care or medicines.
Then why not they save the money for them instead of burning it up at the slightest excuse due to festivals?

Prices of medication have never dropped and not only they are getting more costlier it is getting limited at hospitals.
As for the un-necessary fireworks, it also causes disturbances within your neighbours. Many a times, I would have preferred to go out of our home to confront these inconsiderate people and perhaps wring their necks! The cops? Nah. been there, done that! It is useless!

I used to accept the excuse of 'because we have to celebrate', 'because it is part of our culture', 'because of our religon','...............bull............' so maybe only at certain times they can play but then, who is to control? Last nite, the so called celebration lasted till 2 am in the morning!
By the way, what celebration? There is one coming tomorrow?

Therefore we need to educate ourselves and be considerate to all our neighbours. Moreover, it
is indirectly giving our Gormen a message. "Come on, increase the price of everything. We can still afford to burn our money up. We still got plenty left!"

Please people, for once, just think of those in need.

Swarovski EL 10x42 Swarovision

It is already three months old and we are really enjoying this pair of binoculars who have lived up to its claim "See the unseen"!
We have already covered more than half of our lists of birds. We even have more time to look at individual birds to study the its colors right up to the finest details.
Have never seen a Silver Eared Messia that clear. Also spotted the truly beautiful Red Headed Trogon who gave us three minutes of examination!

As for the Black Throated Sunbird, wow, truly exhilarating! Of course, we cannot leave out our ever popular "Phua Chu Kang" bird. Ha!Ha! This Streaked Spiderhunter's bright yellow feet looks just like his boots!

The Olde Gap Rest House

Such a majestic architecture, left to rot.

Was at the hills on Thursday, 28th. October, 2010 and while waiting for our turn to go up the hills (again?) we still see the sad state of affairs almost every week.
This picture was taken in 2008, 2 years ago.
The nostalgic Gap Rest House is still dead!
Dead for the last six years!
You may see the date stated on the project board but the actual date of death (close for renovations) was already three years before! This is on the state of Selangor (state boundary) whereas most of Fraser's sits on the state of Pahang.
Just look at the conflicting date stated on the board!
By the look of the picture, is there any one working?
Even the concrete mixer (the only one) have weeds growing on it!
Even the little so called town is Dead. I am talking of Gap.

This is a picture I took in 1971 and that would be 39 years ago. Taken with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was a kid.

Just look at it now, five days ago!

Farking Useless Broadband Again!

Yesterday an a******e spoke of penetration.

No, not penetration of the famous Anwar case but the 'k***k' talk about how good our broadband is, have been, or even going to be. To us here in Klang, it is getting boring to hear about such 'k***k' talk!

I recall our experience with TMNut on how they accepted our application to upgrade to the 'fantasyland' of 4Mb plan. They took our money (auto debit) for four months while we get a dead phone line. Knowing full that my home CANNOT support 4Mb technically even I live less than one mile from their only exchange at Jalan Meru.
After a tussle with the folks from their HQ in Jalan Pantai and with the help of the Malaysian Consumer Complaint Centre, I got back my phone line, and the refund (4 months of paying for 4Mb!). And still surfing at 360Kpbs but paying for the 1Mbps!!!!This was in 2008.

3 weeks ago, we got a call from a sweet young thing.

She was from the Tele Marketing section of the ever great, TMNut. She spoke about upgrading our line to 4Mb (again). She confirms that technically, our address can support 4Mb. There is a special promotion ongoing and the so called "Blockbuster" deal is on offer for only RM140 per month. My wifey says ok.
So it was an ok deal and a technician would call us within 3 days.
Today, is already 3 weeks and NO one called us. Nada.
My wifey then called them instead and guess what?

Sorry ma'am, you area CANNOT support 4Mb! So the case is closed.

If we did not call to find out, just how the f***k do we know that NO one is coming over?

In the first place, why didn't the Telemarketing section of TMNut check first before calling us to offer the damn "Blockbuster" deal?
What the f***k is all this bullshit-talk about how great our broadband is or the new "Uni****k" WiFi can do? We can now honestly feel how Anwar felt about his sodomy court case because what we are going thru is getting a great f***k from behind with the ever great aim of TMNut's super penetration!

Hey sweet young thing, go tell your 'supervisor' to go back to school and learn NOT from the text books but from real people with real feelings. That would be your customers.

Burmese Shrike

My wifey spotted an uncommon Shrike a few days ago.
This was at our back yard garden here in Klang.

I thought it was a migratory Brown Shrike or the Tiger Shrike which drops by from East Asia and getting away from the coming winter months. Upon examining the picture taken, we realised it to be the Burmese Shrike which on record, do not usually hang around that far south!

The distinguished 'rattling' call and the long tail are her trademark.

ReVisited

Did a video shoot here last Saturday.

This time, only specific species were selected and a close up HD shot was taken showing details with good colors recorded. Video filming of birds are very difficult as compared to still photography. The equipment alone is hard to obtain here in Malaysia especially video tripods, lighting and microphones. Worst still are equipment for lowly camcorders because of the price.

The new Panasonic Lumix GH2 micro Four Thirds Camera is fanstastic in every Technological aspect from shooting HD Video and Stills 'without Compromise'!
Launched at Fotokina hours ago, reviewers are all going GaGa with Oooos!..and Ahhhs!

In summary, if one is using an HD camcorder (last years model) and is wanting to change into the professional type, it would cost you an arm and a leg! And, as at yesterday, there is no camcorder that have larger sensor for cinematic d.o.f effect. plus lens inter-changeability. The Lumix GH2 does all that AND....now hear this.....you can continue shooting photos with quality equals to that from bigger (current) DSLRs!! The GH2 is now a Photo AND Video camera... no compromise!

Tomorrow, many buyers of new photographic equipment would give a sigh of relief when all major camera makers launches new models for the world market.

This once in 2 years event is being held in Cologne, Germany.

I am involved indirectly. Very indirectly, because of my (bad) timing (maybe a good omen) as I am about to switch from using a HD camcorder right up to the top at 'full frame' DSLR.

Since ten days, sleepless nights and nightmares were experienced. (see, photography is a dangerous hobby indeed.) And 'secret news leaks' are trickling through day by day.

I was very keen on the new Sony Handycam NEX VG10, a prosumer camcorder that shoots in Full HD 1080p. I was so sure that it would be da dream baby!
Then, my ex lover called!

" Hey Baby! I am back and I am badder than before. I am now called the GH2 from Panasonic. I heard that you have your eye on the Sony chick and she is a camcorder."Moreover I am now better equipt to excite your senses and you will be amazed to see what I can really do for your birds!"
The Panasonic GH2 (that replaces GH1) is a micro Four/Third system that is completely new and is doing away with the old design (the SLR).Unfortunately, it is still being used as the DSLR on the two Giants (brand Nik & the brand Can) in the Field. It is getting outdated.
The GH2 does away completely with the mechanical mirror, the large and heavy penta-prisms and finally the complicated mechanical shutter. It will have a global shutter from now on.
Because of these changes, the DSLR is now about to be burried with the dead!
The GH2's video is now on 1920x1080p and the 'roller shutter' effect problem is now gone too!
This is good news. With such great sensors in smaller bodies, we now go get some large lenses!

We will wait for more good news then....

Finally, a consumer camcorder capable of making 'Hollywood' movies is here. This new SONY handycam features interchangeable lenses and shoots in Full HD 1080p (PAL version) 24p!

It also feature a large image sensor of the latest NEX (still) cameras launched recently. It comes with an E mount 18mm-200mm lens at a retail price of USD2,000.

Turtle Watch

10 pairs every night!

As many know that Trenggannu is world famous for its Turtle egg laying, the authorities have reported that they have been finding new mating animals along the entire coast of the South China Sea.

The observations have been going on since 2004 and a volunteer working on this said that he had personally seen 2,400 animals on the beach for the last six years. If ten pairs are seen every night, the total would be the witnessing of 7,300 animals a year! This is a record and a suggestion have been made to report it to UNESCO and the WWF!
Our tourism Ministry is now getting aware and are concerned about the possible surge in tourists.
Plans are underway as it will surely affect our Tourism activities.
When asked about the new method of observation which brought success, the volunteer gleefully announced that they listen for sounds of 'heavy breathing' (in the dark!)
The nests have been found behind coconut trees, by the side of large rocks, on the open beach itself and even inside cars!

The newspaper reported this find yesterday, here.

If you want to join in the search, the local gormen is now suggesting that.." to light up the entire beaches placing high intensity floodlights so that we can watch it in living High Definition details and color!"
The above is a parody about this state in Malaysia who do not fail to amuse us with senseless news.

First, it was about allowing only the very Rich to visit an island. Second, it was about an award winning teacher who encourages everyone to read and have sex every night in order to be a 'smart' person!
Yesterday, it was reported that students from a nearby university, got caught having sex on the beach. Like all students of higher learning elsewhere, they should be reading books and working on their thesis.

Instead of nipping the problem in the bud, they are planning to employ officers with a special 'skills' of looking in the dark without night vision devices. They should also have ears that can detect "kissing sounds in total darkness". What rubbish!

Oh! How I really wish they can spend these ridiculous time and money to search for the real Leatherbacks.

New Dish On The Block

Wanna try a new dish here in Klang?

It sounds like the Klang's famous Bak Kut Teh (Pork Rib Soup) but it is not.
It is Bak Kut Teng (Th'ng) as in 'soup' and the receipe is from Northern Thailand.

No dried spices and MSG is ever used.
Only FRESH garden HERBS goes into the soup and a special method of retaining the goodness of the taste of the meat is applied.

The Chefs are formerly from a well known Crab Restaurant in Subang Jaya which was famous for their fiery 'hot' chilli Crabs. Restaurant 'Or'Teng Bak Kut Teng is located along the famous Mee Hun Kueh shop and the Pao Xiang Bak Kut Teh outlet.
It is at No. 37, Lorong Bangau, Taman Berkeley, 41150 Klang Selangor.

We like the fresh taste and it is very delicious. It is very different and we wish many can accept it as a new dish. No, it is not even like the Bak Kut of the South which is peppery.

You gotta try it out and we are going back for some more.

Another Fiasco!

Humans are too clever! They invents something and says that it is good for you but then, after 10 years or so, people began to fall sick and die. They just say...oooops!

Remember back in the 1960s? We were kids then. They filled our molar teeths with mercury as a cavity filling and later, they discovered that it could fall off and goes into our digestive system to cause us Cancer! They say again.....Oooops!

Then also in the sixties, some smart arse invented margarine and says that it is safer than eating butter. We eat margarine. But then in the 90s, it was discovered that margarine causes serious heart trouble and became the leading cause of death.

Did you know that the process of making margarine is the same as making plastics?

By blowing Hydrogen gas bubbles into industrial oil for a certain period, it hardens the oil. Thus plastics are formed. Also by using the same gas bubbling into soy/canola/palm or groundnut oil we get margarine. It is reported that it can kill us faster than eating butter............Ooooops again?
They should fuck all these frigging scientists for all the mistakes done in the past.

And today.....Ooooops again!

90% of all processed food here in Malaysia now contains a new poison called HFCS.
This is called High Fructose Corn Syrup.

I was made to believe that fructose is fruit sugar and it is safe. Since my family eat lots of fresh fruits, it is supposed to be a good thing. More servings of fresh fruits and vegetables instead of meat and processed foods leads us to a healthier lives. So it seems.

Sugar comes from sugar canes. Beet sugar comes from sweet beetroots, Maple syrup come from Maple trees.

Corn Syrup do NOT come from any part of the corn naturally ie. from the leaf, flower, cobs, stem even the roots. It is PROCESSED from corn starch by adding enzymes together with EIGHT Toxic chemicals to make it sweeter than sugar! That equals High Profit Margin for the food processors.
These sinful bastards makes money while we all die in vain.

The eight toxic chemicals are as follows:- 1) Caustic Soda 2)Hydrochloric Acid 3)Alpha-amylase 4) Gluco-amylase 5) Isomerase 6) Powdered Carbon 7) Calcium Chloride and 8) Magnesium sulphate. There you go, eight illegal substances enough to hang the makers eight times over yet many Gormens remains silent.

Just where is our Gormen or our Minister of Health's response on this?

The latest issue of Utusan Konsumer of the Consumer Association of Penang featured this latest 'poison' where almost ALL food stuff that we come in contact with daily, have this 'highly toxic' stuff.

When is this Race? This is an International Event and have been actively taking place for many years and for this year's Race, we are all unsure when it would be!

Was it on 26th. May..which have just passed by, and we were not told in any media? Some says that it would be on June 19th., which is only 13 days away... and no promotion on any media?
Such international event would naturally attract birders from around the World and still no info is available to the general public!

MNS? WWF?......not sure? I was told that it was passed on to the Pahang State Gormen to organise this activity. Is this the way it is being done? The last race gave us a feeling of a pasar malam aura! Pooooh!

HUMANE ACTS

Almost every top class movie features a logo of the American Humane Society's involvement in Movies (AHAD) assuring viewers that "No animals were hurt, injured or killed" while making this film.

This shows that even for entertainments, like, "AVATAR" or "HACHIKO- A Dogs Story"..etc, animals were treated with utmost respect and officials were on standby to observe if any cruel acts were made.

Not in Malaysia. Not even planned for, in the so called "Perfect 2020" cockeyed vision. Bollox!
Last week there was this issue raised about how a lowly 'rambo' handler kicked, pulled and pinched our 'King of the Jungle' just for some photo shoot.

A group gathered at the scene there last Saturday were not spared any humane act either. There were women and children present.
This time around, these concerned folks were greeted with 'strange looking' hulks and the cops chased the gathering away. Malaysia Boleh!
Maybe, the law were there to 'protect' da tiger! Ha!Ha!

Now another case!
A smoking Orang Utan!
Now we know why 'pack of 14s' are still allowed!
It was reported at Malaysiakini here ,that an Orang Utan in a Zoo in Johore is trained to puff away.
It also looked like this primate is addicted to nicotine!
Are we Malaysians caring enough to fcuk those in the higher authority to ACT?
It also look like they are NOT qualified to be in these positions. Are we really running out of truly capable and honest people?
