When is this Race? This is an International Event and have been actively taking place for many years and for this year's Race, we are all unsure when it would be!

Was it on 26th. May..which have just passed by, and we were not told in any media? Some says that it would be on June 19th., which is only 13 days away... and no promotion on any media?
Such international event would naturally attract birders from around the World and still no info is available to the general public!

MNS? WWF?......not sure? I was told that it was passed on to the Pahang State Gormen to organise this activity. Is this the way it is being done? The last race gave us a feeling of a pasar malam aura! Pooooh!

Just three weeks ago, a main stream media reported about supermarket trolleys. Two pages were dedicated about the cleanliness and useage. As usual, customers were mainly blamed about how they have to be a responsible user and help to keep it neat.

There were also interviews with the usual blah, blah, blah on how they maintain it daily by washing and cleaning them. All the big hypermarkets claimed that they are "hollier than thou" and are Multinationals. These public-listed companies even behaved like 'angels'!

Why? In my many earlier (blog) postings, phone calls to the 'Corporate Headquarters' .....a million apologies were offered and promises were even assured about 'immediate' action would be taken. All pure blufferlogy! Bullshit!

Almost fell off my 'throne' this morning while reading the newspaper in the toilet.

I know, today is 090909 and the most funniest( & malu-est) thing that can happen in an animal clinic here in Malaysia. It was reported that a veterinarian was arrested for raising the pet squirrel owner's body temperature . Read Here.

You see, a teacher took her pet for a check up because her squirrel had a high fever. The 52 year old Vet, maybe having a hearing problem, got it all wrong. He inspected, groped and sucked her breast instead. Also gave her some advice how to take care of her breasts! Huh? Then afterwards, he told her no need to pay for the 'treatment' and asked her, not her squirrel, to come back again! Dumb fark what ever for? So that 'his' squirrel and attend to her the next time around? She called the cops.
And guess what?

The poor squirrel died later.....of shock!

I am also worried. You see, I have a pet Batam Cock and our Vet is a lady. My Batam Cock is not feeling to well nowadays due to the weather......................?

Fraser's Hill International Bird Race 2009

Sheer Waste Of Our Time!

Yup, we took a week preparing our equipment for this race. We were also told that the Hill would be more 'improved' like the "Little England". Millions of Ringgit have been spent to re-create to its original state. We were assured. It came out in the Press too.

But sadly, all these Bulls were misleading. Pure misguided rubbish. It did not look like the Fraser's Hill of the 60s, 70s, and even the 80s. (the 90s were already showing signs of rot)

The 'other' road was still closed. People from Raub and the East Coast still have to do a big turn via KL and KKB to go up to FH. Many old 'England' bungalows are still closed. There is still a single public toilet (the ONE and ONLY) in town. Just why can't they put up ,say, two to three more around the golf course? Due to traffic control, it became a one way street at the main town but then, some old folks need to make a drive detour about 4 Miles (your choice...or walk uphill for 300 meters) to take a leak? It was raining too! Fuck!

Then the NOISE! If we cannot stand the noisy big bikers, noisy mat rempits, (Yes, they like birds too..of the two-legged kinds of course) noisy 'wroom' from modified cars, kids shouting & bike honking, just how can the birds take it? Moreover, almost 3 years of knocking, banging, painting, cutting & grinding distractions due to the construction, thus causing dust and more dust. I tell you, the birds are gone.
I received an SMS last nite that the Malaysian team managed to record only 70 types of birds out of 120 in this Hill. Such a poor performance. The only foreigners were from Singapore and Thailand. What happened to the International crowd from UK, Australia, NZ, Canada, Japan,South Africa, France, Holland.......? Aww! Please do not tell me it is the A(H1N1) crap again!
Another thing. Please, those 'arches' announcing the trails are just sheer waste of money. An informative board, properly maintained, is good enough for us nature seekers. I sincerely hope that they do not light up the arches at night! Ha!Ha! Hey, this is a Forest Reserve!
Doing up Puncak Inn from zero 'star' to 3 'star' is another waste of funds. Do we need that? It looked so 'posh' that I was 'frightened' to go inside! They have also 'kicked' out all the little warungs' formally located on the verandah.

Back to the Birds. I checked with many fellow birders later. Almost none managed to shoot great pictures of da birds. Me too. I was trying very hard to Video (in HD) them but were distracted by noises. It was also too smoggy and hazy thus preventing sunlight from illuminating the subjects. The video footage were of poor colors too.
The photo above is a picture of a Woodpecker. It is called the 'Greater Yellownape'. This cute chappie was 'ketuking, ketuking, on the tree bark. After adjusting my DIY parabolic dish microphone, I managed to record his pecking sounds. It is also on the video below. Cute!

Dear Authorities, please, please cut out the "Little England" crap. The old Fraser's Hill is gone. England left us in 1957, if you have forgotten. 52 years ago! Your renovations does not even let us remember what Fraser's Hill was, 20 years ago! Such waste of funds. You should really be ashamed of yourselves.

In closing, let me quote a declaration on the entry form at the 2003 Race. ".........to encourage birdwatching as a healthy and academic outdoor activity, to create awareness among both Malaysiana and foreigners of the rich avifauna in Fraser's Hill and to protect Fraser's Hill as a bird sanctuary in Malaysia........."

Are we heading towards that direction at all? Are the birds still there?Really?

By the way, I am personally not new to this Hill. I still remember 'The Tavern', the 'James Bond' minibus driver, the 'Sri Berkat' food, the Red Cross Bungalow, The Steakhouse, The Gap.

Now, that WAS Fraser's Hill.

Red Durians

While scanning thru some old photos, I came across a shot taken in Kudasang, Sabah.

It was our old trip to the wilds near Gunung Kinabalu, the highest mountain of Malaysia. This was around 1992. Met some natives and bought these red durians. They do look unique but do not taste good. The red flesh is as hard as the Jackfruit (Nangka).

Read the newspapers today and our Minister of Health says that Fruits, Vegetables and Eggs from China are SAFE. Really?
How can it be safe if none of the samples are actually tested? Classified under Level 4 means that only a sample is taken and can be immediately released into our market for sales. It looks like they are more concerned about backlogs (3/4 days storage delays) and losses incurred by the importer rather than the safety and health of us, ........the consumers. Wasn't it the same Ministry that only 'nod' a finger and agreed to let 'a batch of cancer causing' red food coloring be used till the stock runs out late last year? Huh..... da DVD actor-guy?
I read the news at 7.30am today but at 4pm, CNN reported that Hongkong have confirmed that eggs from China contains the dreaded Melamine!!!!!!

If one were to check it out, even in the most advanced countries testing for this new 'menace' is new and uncertain, yet our great and clever MINISTER says it is SAFE!!!!! It was also reported that there are NO SAFE LEVELS of Melamine!!!!!!! Whathen da FCUK!

Encik Liow (not even a doctor), you say is safe .............then you eat yah? We are NOT eating it.

Welcome 7.1

Just completed testing out our upgrade and installation of our THX 7.1 sound system.

This is to complement our High Definition TV 1080p which started early this year. Our old version was DTS 5.1 and two weeks ago, we bought our 7.1 amplifier and 13 speaker/drivers for the 7 channel system.
This true 7.1 works and is also backward friendly. That would mean DVDs that features 5.1 is digitally played back giving a 7.1 effect. Only the BluRay Discs and downloaded Hard Disk programmes have true 7.1 sound. You got to hear to believe.

7.1 sound do not necessarily mean 'louder' volume or buying a larger LCD TV means having a bigger living room. These thoughts were already thing of the past. For LCD HDTV, the larger the size and sitting closer to the screen means getting into the visual dimension. Just like IMAX.
7 channels audio mean full audio dimensions i.e. 'your eyes can actually follow the moving sound'!
These life-like sound dimension appears only when necessary such as in action scenes. For example, aircrafts/helicopters/spacecrafts doing a flyby/flyover. It is a freak-out with 7.1.

This is the rear-side of our new Amplifier. Wowie, 3 HDMI in and 1 Out! 2 Digital Input and 2 Optical input!
Seven speakers output and one for sub-woofer. PLUS one additional Zone 2 pre-amp out!

Again, carefully modified for better sound spread, our array of side speakers gives a clean audio frequency between 1,500Hz to 18,000Hz.
The new Jamo active subwoofer is just perfect for our viewing area. It features some control- able booms and spread.
The new Onkyo's "Audyssey" 7.1 channel sound-check computed programming is tedious but is very accurate giving excellent results all the time.

Our connection from the program source is via Monster cable THX fibre-optic cable and Supra HDMIs. Monster's Co-axials are also being used.


Jazz and Classicals are played via a dedicated CD player. The older DVD's, another. Our main source is of course the TVIX by Divco HD player. Our total Hard Disk space is 4TB (TerraBytes)
The final result? A mini-cineplex!!!!Ha!Ha! This is 'that-kinda-noise' we love to hear.

a) A new player jumping in just to make profits? (Like TM)
b) Because it is wireless, it is Gaya to have a wireless? (TM also)
c) Guarantee Superfast broadband at 2Mbps-20Mbps (TM cannot)
d) As above but, where applicable onli (Tm can and is famous for)
e) To wait till year end so 2 Mbps also can (ridiculous!)
f) For KL (in KLCC) or Putrajaya/Cyberjaya (already 4 - 10 Mbps)
g) All must depend on only TM's last mile wiring which can only handle 1Mbps due to old rotting
copper wire which is underwater most of the time and need another RM500BILLION to change them to fibreoptics cables.

TM Streamy, now you kena wallop. For God*&^*sake please wake up from your stupid promotion and take the challenge. Your above advertisement works only for areas around the lakes of Putrajaya/Cyberjaya and we have to go there to surf izzit? Bodoh lah
