SuperCarrier

NIMITZ visits Malaysia

Yes, the USS Nimitz (CV-68), the largest aircraft carrier in the world is in Westport, Port Klang, Selangor, Malaysia.
We had a good look and also saw some awesome birds! The F/A 18Hornets.
And some 'Prowlers'?
Man, this ship IS Big!!! It was named after Fleet Admiral Chester W. NIMITZ who commanded the Pacific Fleet in World War II and was the US Navy's last Five Star Admiral. This Supercarrier have been featured in movies like "The Final Countdown" and "Red Storm Rising".

With Nuclear powered engines, you do not want to mess around with her and her escorts! Do visit her website here to read more.

HITAM IS DEAD!

RESCUE: Who Killed Hitam?

I was informed that one of our heroes who were involved in the Operations Swamp Dogs rescue have been poisoned to death! This is shocking!
Hitam (Blackie) and Kuning (Yellow) were our mascots and were responsible for helping us in rescuing more than 40 out of hundreds abandoned dogs which was left for dead in Pulau Selat Kering off Pulau Ketam, Port Klang, Selangor, Malaysia.
According to The Star newspaper yesterday, which reported the sad news, this is most outraging because disposing stray dogs here in Malaysia is already (bad) 'news-breaking' and despicable throughout the world. The report is here.

During my involvement with the rescue team, I met Kuning and Hitam who were assisting us in welcoming "GRACE' out of the water. I shot the reunion. This was at the Kelong on 7th. May, 2009. I have now edited a new clip from my High Definition raw footage to be made into an HD video clip for anyone who wants to know Hitam Better. The black marks on his tongue is his identification and with a shiny black coat as well.

My contribution is this memorial video for our beloved Hitam. Please see it.You all can send in your monetary donations generously (if you wish) directly to Sabrina's Furry Friend Farm and/or the SPCA.

IN MEMORIAM of our Hero HITAM, I personally dedicate this video to him for helping to save more than 40 wounded and suffering dogs who are now alive.

Please see the Full HD Video here.
Please ask you friends to see this too.

Thank You everyone for your heart felt concerns ,donations and support. Malaysian dogs do deserve better!

Pets' Showtime!

Two Charities to Help Stray Animals
You'd Not Wanna Miss!

Due to recent incidences in regards to cruelty to animals, some very kind souls have responded by organising events to raise funds and awareness to the public. I am encouraging everyone to attend and show your support for the poor animals. This is only a small step but I am sure you are going to enjoy every minute of it.

1)Operafest's One Bow Wow, One Heart

A charity concert organised by the Operafest Children's choir. Its founder and artistic director
is none other than the Internationally known Kam Sun-Yoke. The theme for tonite's
show is based on one of my favourite Oldies by Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein's
"South Pacific" The movie version was shot on location in Pulau Tioman in Full 70mm.
The funds raised would be for Madam Kang's Animal Sanctuary in Taiping, Perak and the FFF
Furry Friends Farm in Kundang, Selangor. Mrs. Kam added that the main purpose is to teach
children to be kind to pets. Way to go, Mrs Kam! A big Thank You!

2) R.A.V.E.2SAVE
As already mentioned on my earlier blog, this fun and exciting event would also be very interesting especially to the young at hearts and would be adults soon. Thanks again KDU!

So there you are, this weekend is going to be enjoyable and full of fun for everybody.

Pet Adoption

Niamahfulat!
Ok, I received an email about the coming RAVE2SAVE fund raising programme by Kollege Damansara Utama (KDU) in Petaling Jaya on the 25th. July.

My heartiest appreciation to KDU for organising such event to help save and support rescued pets.

Yes, even though it was clearly stated that all proceeds would go to a big ORG in Ampang, a mis-communication took place. They have also invited another pet rescue group to take part which this group fully agreed to bring along 50 rescued puppies and to be given free to good homes.
Free, it would mean getting it free of charge after taking all necessary particulars and promise that the pup would get good care, food and plenty of love.
The big ORG is not giving any pups or rescued dogs free. One must pay for a rescued animal!

Why is that so?

Go to Malaysian Dogs Deserves Better. website to see their reasoning.

Niamahfulat! (again) Do any of us really know the realities of our today's economic situation?

With so much going on, such as the H1N1 flu, forth coming increase of household electricity, increased bus and taxi fares, food prices....etc, many would now be very sensitive about spending.
Mentally, an average family also have to worry about security and the current political on goings which is the main concern of trying to be 'sane' everyday.

I must admit that the last thing on people mind nowadays, is charity and doing good.

I was told off, just two days ago that many are very concerned about their daily survival and this family gave me a good ticking off about saving strays, be it dogs or cats. So where do these poor animals go to? Monetary support from the public are getting scare.

Just why can't this big ORG accepts the 50 rescued pups and work hand-in-hand with other rescue groups who eventually share the same good line of thought? There are also plenty more
where-it-came-from, as estimates of stray animals runs into thousands?

By the way, Dr Chan Kah Yein's Inti College programme came off beautifully because young adults are being taught to love all animals. We need to start them young to solve the problems of strays. Importantly, they should not be told (politically) where not to get/buy rescued pets.
By doing so, it look like the big ORG is already teaching these young adults the fundamental of politics!!!!

This was how the problem of strays happened in the first place!

Really Fulat!

Craps,Grab and Crabs!

So How Now?
Now that Kunning is back with the owner, supposedly one or two or even three dogs are found, so what's next? The important fact is that more than 400 domesticated pets were killed by this action and someone must be hauled up and punished.

Only less than 10% of the dogs were saved and half of those saved may not make it. Have we really achieved anything great?

There were elements of law breaking kidnap, drama of the finest kind even with accusation
of murder, death threats and politics, so what's next?

CRAPS
This 'ORG' is supposedly, the only organisation here in Malaysia was set to prevent Cruelty to animals and to PROTECT all living animals in the laws which is enshrined in our Malaysian Constitution. We would expect that they, the beneficiary of many Corporation's donations, do just that. But did they?
The recent action of City Hall's infamous killing of dogs by yanking their throats with so much cruelty were even shown on national TV. They denied it but if my eyes fooled me, I would have thought that dead dogs don't move! In fact 'dead' anything doesn't move!
By the way, these strays were already in their confines and pens. Do they have to be treated in this inhumane way? Come on, we are humans. We posses a thinking brain which is supposed to be smarter than animals. But are we? Animals do not kill each other just to rob them. Humans do.
I may now be thinking that maybe, just maybe, that spaying and neutering 'idiotic' humans may be the right thing to do. We are breeding faster than flies!
Yesterdays newspaper's report that now we have problems with elephants and monkeys. There are already talks of them being a 'nuisance' and may have to spay and neuter them. Just think.
It is we humans that encroaches into their territories and now we call 'them' a problem!
Just where do these animals go if we keep clearing land just to accomodate those "do-not-want-to-go-back-home" foreign labourers especially illegals?

GRAB
Ok, so Kuning is back. He can only do that much. For nine days after he was 'grabbed mistakenly' more dogs died in Hell's Island. How much dogs are still alive? Your guess is as good as mine. This 'Mystery' should not have happened. Did this ORG did the grab?
So why all the hoo-haa about attempted murder, raid, threats, sandiwara, drama-minggu-ini?
Living with 14 cats and dogs in a cabin is definitely not hygenic and talk about working with an outfit saving animals is very poor PR! Ever hear about Leptosporasis? Distemper?Parvovirus?Rabbies? (...spelling unchecked!...)Tak Malu!

CRABS
The Malay word for that is ketam.
Pulau Ketam or crab island used to be a sleepy idlylic fishing village. Now it is a cursed place. The Village of the Damned". Their stupid action caused the death of more than 400 pet dogs.
This un-educated move to chuck away the poor strays into Pulau Selat Kering and Pulau Pintu Gedung miles away from their homes are NOT actual islands. Just because it is called 'pulau' it is a tidal swamp which meant 'Sure Death' even for the thoughest human.
These cluster of salt water swamps are breeding grounds for vast numbers of marine life such as fishes, muddy crabs, clams, cockles, mangrove snails and prawns. thus sprouting numbers of kelongs (aquatic fish farms). This is the main income of this village.
Let us teach them a lesson that there are rules and laws to follow. No one is above the law. The public is very pissed off. It was understood that they still defend their right to do what they did. Paws pointing is now an 'in' thing. The next was 'oops!'
I will BOYCOT going to the island for visits. I will NOT buy, eat, promote whatever produce that come from that village. I now plea to all dogs and animal lovers to join me in this boycot. Stop buying and consuming products from Pulau Ketam such as seafood like this which is served in Seafood and Steamboat restaurants:-

Razor Clams/(Choke Than /Teik Than/Siput Buluh)

Cockles/(See Hum/Kerang) Clams/(LaLa)
Mangrove Snails/(Balitung/Lor/ChutChut)
Live fishes are usually all of the same sizes and weight, are cultured, kept alive and displayed in salt water tanks at all seafood restaurants in and around Klang valley.

The common ones are:-

Red Snappers/(Ang Choe/Hoong Choe/Ikan Merah)

Groupers/(Sack Pan/Kerapu)
Pompano/(Golden Pomfret/Kum Chong/Bawal Emas)
Barramundi/Sea Perch/(Siakap)

Of course, not forgetting their famous Pulau Ketam Fish Balls!
...and their famous Fish Crackers/(Kerupuk/Har Paeng/Hae Piah)
...and most importantly, the Prawns.......
....and da CRABS!
Just imagine this....all the seafood ate up the dead bodies of our beloved defenseless Swamp Dogs who died a horrible death even without being given a fighting chance to stay alive.

JUST LOOK AT THIS FOR THE LAST TIME! May they rest in Peace especially you, 'dear Salvation.......'

Malaysia Boleh!

Grace, Please Be Strong!

Please Pray For Grace.

Received news from Sabrina that Grace, the one we specially handled, is sick. When we met her same time last week, she was running around, playing.
Last night she was unwell.
Sabrina have already sent her to a specialist for intensive care.

"...Grace, please fight and pull through,.....you have come that far,......Please do not give up,......We need you to show the other 20 mates that things are alright,...I also know that you have forgiven those who have made you go through Hell..."

Coming Back!

Trying Again!

After a lengthy meeting until late last night with the entire Rescue Team of FFF, and also with some very encouraging news and developments, I am coming to join back in the rescue of the Swamp Dogs in Hell's Island.
My wife will be helping Sabrina's FFF while I go to the Kelong.

Will keep all of you posted on a daily basis.

So happy with the new 'development' and the 'Extra' support!

Time Ran Out

A GREAT LOSS!!

Even with a reward of RM 1,000 being offered by my family to get KUNING back, no one came forward with any helpful information. Time is running out. Dogs are dying.
It was believed that the great 'ORG' (or its agent) have hid him away from us. Most disgustingly, away from the owner. Also see Pummkin's update a few minutes ago.

Yup we heard that the great 'ORG' have rescued more dogs on other parts of the island but why? Why not PREVENT further discards being done by the Pulau Ketam folks? Why pick and blame us 'small time' rescuers?

OK you win. But I will have NO more respect for such an organisation like yours.

I will also boycot Pulau Ketam and all it's produce sold at all markets and seafood restaurants. From live fishes, crabs, prawns, clams, shells and fish balls. Please join me because I am already having 'nightmares' about these 'seafood' eating up meat of 400++ dead dogs. These dogs died in vain. Because of money and nothing else.

As for 'Salvation', I am very sad. I have no more words to say on this. So sorry, Salvation.
...."May you have a Happier life up There, the Great Kennel In the Sky together with your 400 other mates..."

Our reward still stands but till next Monday (1st. June, 2009). We want Kuning returned to his master. When we met him last Monday (25th. May) he cried and begged us to find him. We promised to do so. Kuning himself was a victim of this ordeal too but was saved. His master missed him so dearly. He is a Muslim.

I will be producing a short HD Video dedicated to Salvation and all those who have perished from such horrible act by humans. The very humans they loved and trusted. Of course, I will not forget Kuning, our Hero.

By this, I will now close this subject on my blog. Life goes on.

During this period I have neglected our Shih Tzu girl, Xiao Mei together with our 38 fishes in our pond, hundreds of orchids and not forgetting five Merbuks, seven Magpies, five Sunbirds and three Bulbuls (all are Wild Birds visiting our feeders and even nestings)

Many Thanks to all our friends, supporters and commenters.

Regards

Confirmed Missing!

Please, Please Give Us Back
KUNING!!!!!!

Was with the Rescue team of FFF on Monday.

Spent the whole afternoon at the Kelong opposite Hells Island. Did my part blowing my 'dog training' whistle for hours but failed to get a response. The sea was very rough and the current was the strongest we have ever seen. We were even worried about our very own safety.

I cannot imagine any dogs swimming towards us.
Got back bloody tired and very discouraged.

Empty handed. Without Kuning, we got no dogs.
We stand a better chance if he is there because he goes into the island to coax them out.
Now he is gone! Dog-napped!!!!!
Please help us find him! The remaining lives of the stranded dogs depends on him.
We have zero yesterday and today. Time IS running out.

Very Urgent, please help us.

She's Wonderful!

Goodness
GRACE-ious!

Visited FFF (Furry Friends Farm) at Kundang this afternoon. All dogs saved from Hell's Island are doing well and are safe. They are still alive. (FFF is a No-Kill Zone).

We were so happy and delighted that Grace, the dog whom we personally help in the rescue has recovered and her wound (which were full of maggots) has healed! That was the best news we have ever gotten. She was so playful and energetic that trying to take a photo was difficult!
She was running around with all her pals and new found friends. She really enjoyed her freedom and many visitors were proud to see how much work Sabrina has done. What else proof anyone can need?
In a couple of weeks, and when she is more settled, we have planned to neuter her. It is also in our programme that neutering is the only way to go so that we can have less strays and less suffering.

HELP!

Yellow Elephant Missing!

To all drivers using the Federal Highway, the North-South Expressway, the Kesas Highway and other smaller 'trunk' roads.
Did you notice a 'yellow dog' in a car/lorry/truck being kidnapped from Port Klang?

Our beloved 'Kuning' who have helped us in our swamp dog rescue is missing! Many suspected that an 'ORG' have taken him away because Kuning is a great dog in seeking and coaxing the stranded dogs on Hell Island to be rescued. Kunning is better than the entire "ORG" in looking for lost dogs.

But if you see a 'yellow Elephant' coming from the North or East, i.e from Bentong or Kuantan,
also, please contact Perhilirtan because taking an animal from the National Park is forbidden by Law.
Even though it is a stray elephant!

Go! Angels,Go!

Another Try.

The entire team of FFF met again in a larger force this morning at the Port.

Sabrina's presence and assurance gave us hope to search harder and harder they did.

The entire team of ladies carried an additional kayak on to our boat

Easy does it.........
There....masuk already!
.....and off they went to our base (kelong) opposite Hells Island in Pulau Ketam...(Drat...... that name again)

These are truly our Angels.
It is getting clearer each day ..........who the Angels and Demons are!!!!!

So Sorry My Sweetheart!

I Honesty Tried but I Failed!
I really Couldn't Save You.
I will not forgive myself.

At the earlier stage of the rescue, TV Smith took many snapshots of so many dogs trapped on the Hell's Island. After enlarging one particular picture, I noticed a sad and a pitiful faced, toy breed, a mixed of Shih Tzu and a Maltese.
As there are many larger and more powerful ones around and they are always fighting for food, the character of such small breed usually stay shy, clear and friendly.
Also being a long coated dog, missing a day's grooming gives one a headache. So, just how can a toy breed survives such harsh and terrible environment? It was a sure Death!
The image of such a sad face, also shows helplessness. But Death was certain.
She must have died a horrible death and her body, torn to shreds to be eaten by her starving friends. No choice. The folks at Pulau Ketam and our elected Officials wanted it this way.Money is all they cared for.

From my heart, I cried for days! I really wanted to save her because she looks like my Shih Tzu girl called Xiao Mei. I will call you "Salvation", a name deeply embedded in my heart hoping there are still some left in this island.I am sad. Still sad and are mad as hell too. Hell enough to boycot Pulau Ketam for the rest of my life.
After all I am only human.

Another life saved !

Sweet Serene!

She was all alone, she was calm and quiet. She was friendly.
Despite of what she went through on Hell's Island, she looks very forgiving. She is blessed.
That was how we describe her after meeting her at the Port. She was the latest one saved.

That was at 4.15pm this afternoon, just four hours ago.
Thanks to Adrian and his friends who rushed from Furry Friends Farm in Kundang to Port Klang in record time to safely take her back there for proper care and love. This time around, I really saw some 'macho' guys at work!

Thanks Adrain! Your girl is now named ...."Serene Adrianne". What a sweet name.
