Blogging Is Tiring!

End of this Blog?

Blogging is indeed tiring.
Many fellow bloggers (since the days of SCM..i.e the dail-up 28k internet) have given up, it is also very lonely now in the blogosphere. Many have also left for Facebook and Twitter. Perhaps life is different now.
We used to share pictures and videos easily with blogs but then, many found Facebook a better alternative. I too, have facebook but then it is a different ball game. I honestly prefer blogs.

Sadly, when one get less visitors one will get the message.

Perhaps I may just let it go.
Let me see what goes.
Or do drop me a comment.

Thanks a lot friends, thanks for dropping by.

Is Smaller Better?

NEW MALAYSIAN COCK

As if we all have nothing better to do especially on the recent spate of increasing crime rate and the floods. It was reported in a local daily that our dear Deputy Rural Development and Regional MINISTER is looking for a small cock.

He added that the Government would INTENSIFY awareness of this cock and is considering gazetting it as the Country's HERITAGE and a National ICON.

I already have posted in my previous blog about the "Real Malaysian Cock" which is much larger (about 13 inches*) should be re-considered as an icon, instead of wasting time in looking for a small (5 inches*) sized one. Size does matter. But then our Minister have other plans.

We are refering to the Bantam Chicken (Ayam Serama). These are miniature chickens which are found naturally in the wilds of South East Asia including Indonesia AND Malaysia.

Wikipedia reports.

Therefore by making it a country's Icon and Heritage as if Malaysians love small cocks, this is not entirely right because it is also found in other countries as well.

Bantam Chickens were discovered in a seaport of Bantam, Indonesia. Due to is ultra-small size, it has become a favourite pet. Honestly, it is very amusing to see such small chickens playing around.

Almost all country have their National Flower, National Bird, National Flag, National Animal... do Malaysia need a National Cock? A National ICON? If we do, just why can't we choose a size bigger? Size do matter. More Garang that is!
Just like the American Bald Eagle!

Way To Go!

ASTRO in HD Next Month

Astro announces their intention to launch HDTV (High Definition TV) next month.

This long overdue 'technology' was tested by terresterial TV (RTM) early last year but nothing came of it. Astro decision to start is a welcomed news.
Many have changed from the old 29" CRT (cathode ray tube TV) to LCD TV but were made to suffer poor picture quality due to changing technologies. It is hard to watch 300p to 400p video signals from a 720p LCD TV sets. Let alone on a 1080p full HD TV set.

HDTV also comes with High Definition Audio.

The Star biz news report here.

It looks like Astro is getting back a customer. Me!

Some very interesting HDTV sites:-

We have just completed the upload to Youtube on an interval recording of Bulbophyllum medusae, a unique Malaysian orchid. It took us almost 100 hours, non-stop, with the Panasonic HDC TM300 camcorder in full HD.

You Kidding Me?

This Is Not Good!
Read the newspapers this morning and a saw a shocking report.
Do they still carry on with this 'out-dated' & cruel act even until today?
Do they know that these birds are NOT from the wild and releasing them infact, kills them?
These ornamentally raised birds are artificially hatched from pet hatcheries and would not know how to survive NATURALLY. They die within 24 hours after failing to find food or to be killed by predators.

"Saved from the pot?" What pot? I see only birds.

Please do NOT do this in the name of Buddhism. There is no Saying or Teaching anywhere in the Dhamma that one have to release birds like this in order to be a good Buddhist.

Just stop the breeders if you can. Get to the root of the problem.
Also, NO need to 'bless' these poor animals if you are going to kill them, indirectly.

This was told to me by the late Chief Reverend,
Ven Dr. K. Sri Dhammananda Nayaka Maha Thera JSM

This act is in fact, a very POOR example and a disgrace to Buddhism!
The organisers need to be properly 'blessed' by the 'abbot' themselves! Shame on you!

JUST CUT IT!

Gormen want RM50.00?

Just received a new Credit/Debit card from the Bank. Did not asked for it but they send it anyway. Then the next day, our Goverment decided to charge each Credit Card, a service fee of RM50.00 annually. This is to cut spending so they say.

Bollox!

So I cut spending by cutting the card in half and send it back to the Bank today.

By the way, instead of making money by asking us not to spend too much, why not check what happened to the 'Service Charge Fee' which was exposed by the newspapers last week? Billions of Ringgit have been paid by the public but the Government say they did not get the dough! Our dinner bill last night, at a big restaurant, also charged us a hefty service tax amount! Just what is that for? Protection money? Fuck!

Mis-managing again?

Shucks, what kind of lame-brained people we have got up there handling our treasury?

HITAM IS DEAD!

RESCUE: Who Killed Hitam?

I was informed that one of our heroes who were involved in the Operations Swamp Dogs rescue have been poisoned to death! This is shocking!
Hitam (Blackie) and Kuning (Yellow) were our mascots and were responsible for helping us in rescuing more than 40 out of hundreds abandoned dogs which was left for dead in Pulau Selat Kering off Pulau Ketam, Port Klang, Selangor, Malaysia.
According to The Star newspaper yesterday, which reported the sad news, this is most outraging because disposing stray dogs here in Malaysia is already (bad) 'news-breaking' and despicable throughout the world. The report is here.

During my involvement with the rescue team, I met Kuning and Hitam who were assisting us in welcoming "GRACE' out of the water. I shot the reunion. This was at the Kelong on 7th. May, 2009. I have now edited a new clip from my High Definition raw footage to be made into an HD video clip for anyone who wants to know Hitam Better. The black marks on his tongue is his identification and with a shiny black coat as well.

My contribution is this memorial video for our beloved Hitam. Please see it.You all can send in your monetary donations generously (if you wish) directly to Sabrina's Furry Friend Farm and/or the SPCA.

IN MEMORIAM of our Hero HITAM, I personally dedicate this video to him for helping to save more than 40 wounded and suffering dogs who are now alive.

Please see the Full HD Video here.
Please ask you friends to see this too.

Thank You everyone for your heart felt concerns ,donations and support. Malaysian dogs do deserve better!

Sea Parasite Bugs

Unhygenic Food Preparation?

Went to a new restaurant serving Penang food with wifey yesterday.
Ordered Petai Anchovies and Assam Fish Head curry with rice.
This new joint was also officially opened by the Menteri Besar a few days ago and we were impressed with the decor and list of food on the menu.
The dissapointing part was the fiery 'hot' chilli taste. The two dishes were too 'pedas' to our liking thus killing off any flavour. We are in our 50s and as if we have not eaten this kind of curry before. As a food reviewer, we find it difficult in giving it good marks. The 'small' plate of petai costs us RM13.00 and RM18.00 for the Assam curry with little Fish Head pieces. This is Klang and it is pricey.

A shocking thing is that after almost finishing our meal, we found a strange 'insect-like' bug with two eyes staring at us!
As a former angler, I have seen this kind of sea bugs before. This is bad.
I called the 'captain' to let him know. He said something like "...I will tell the cook to improve on his fish cleaning from now on...!" and that's it! ...Shucks!
Is this hygenic? What happened if one or more bugs have already been eaten by us?
Who is going to be responsible for our health safety? Can anyone advise us what to do to make a formal complaint? As this is a review, we shot a video too. Click here to watch. Gross! Disgusting!

Upon checking on the internet, this is what I've found! Yucks...it is in the fish's head!

Anyway, be forewarned and be careful what you eat!

We are not going to that place for meals anymore. We may sue if we know how to go about it.

Seven Spikes!

Holy Guacamole!!!!

Our Tiger Orchid (Grammatophyllum speciosum) also known as "The Largest Orchid In The World" sprouted Seven Spikes.

Last year, our first plant gave us a single spike of 61 flowers during the Chinese New Year.

This time, plant number two have seven and we estimated the number of flower would be over 400!

It is going to a sight to behold. Lucky us.

Let's Us All Go Naked!

What Da Hell Is Going On,
Minister of Home Affairs?

For a week, I've been reading a debate on the newsprint that in order to reduce snatch thefts, ladies were advised NOT to carry handbags. They should don cargo pants with many pockets to store their stuff instead of a handbag. One even advised ladies to cut their hair short and try to look like a man so ladies would not be singled out.

Then girls look like boys/man look like ladies!

WTF! This is a free world. Malaysia is supposedly be a safe country where one can stroll, walk, ride, drive or even lepak safe and sound. Get to the ROOT of the problem and not a 'blanket' solution. Police, GO get the bad guys. Even for 24hrs., 7days a week, 365days a year!
Stop blaming on the public.
Are we not safe anymore?

Then what the hell we need people in the LAW and ENFORCEMENT agency?
They are fully armed with weapons yet cannot do anything thing about it.
Maybe, this time, we need to arm our selves in order to protect our families.

Then, this morning, the newspaper reported that ladies were stripped naked after being robbed while jogging! This happened in SS3, Petaling Jaya.

Perhaps we should ALL leave home completly NAKED so that to let the muggers know we are not carrying anything valuable (...except for the family's heirloom).
Hey, Minister, this is MY suggestion. Do not copy lah.
This is may also be a good idea because it can help our POLICE as they are already busy and OVERLOADED with work.
DUH!

Thunderbirds Are Go!

Awesome Birds!

Come this Saturday at 10am, the skies over Subang would be full of birds. Awesome birds.

The Giant Globemaster Boeing C17s together with F16 Fighting Falcons of the USAF would be doing their stunts of precision flying over the Subang Airport.

Our very own Royal Malaysian Air Force's Sukhoi Su27 Flankers would also show some of their skills.. (Sorry, could not even get a decent picture of the highly secretive Malaysian jetfighters but on Google images, I can get the 'classified' B2B, F117 and the F22 Stealth planes!) Also once upon a time, the highly secretive BAC Hawk planes were also a no, no. Guess that many of 'em have 'dropped' into the South China Sea!

The last time the Thunderbirds came around, I was there. I managed to get a jacket patch.
Also went on the KC135 tanker. We will be there to shoot some HD Videos.

Go, Thunderbirds, Go!

Proved A Point.

Clear My Ass!

Remember that I mentioned on my last 2 blogs, that how clear the air had become during the Raya Holidays?

Just watch our air for the last 2 days. The irony is that 'all' came back to work yesterday.
Including those frigging illegals who burns the bushes for a living.
It is now smoggy! Why is that so?

Dear Minister of environment, is that not a 'clear' case of human-made pollution? Or maybe you have also gone on a holiday that you did not watch how clean the air in KL, PJ was for the last week?
Act of weather?
Act of God?
Pordah! Balls!

Carnival at Sentral

FREE RIDES!

A carnival is being held at the new Klang Sentral in Klang Utara (North).

This is the new transportation hub and this carnival is to promote its popularity.

The Panasonic HDC TM300 camcorder is used to video this in full HD 1920x1080. The audio is in Dolby Digital 5.1. This clip is to test its capability of shooting in low light.

Click here to watch on Youtube. Do not forget to click "watch in HD" and let it stream down completely. No thanks to TMNut's so called broadband, it may take a while to stream.
Enjoy.

How Come?

Friggin' CLEAR!

Today is day two of the Raya Holidays.
The night sky is clear and I can see Gentings from the Expressway towards KLIA.
Have not experience such clear night for the last six months!

What happened?
Is it that the illegal burning have stopped? All workers went 'home' for the holidays?
Is it that due to the festival, many are 'off' work thus no "haze/smog/smoke"pollution?

Then, I seriously suggest that the Authorities monitor this situation so that we all can enjoy clear, clean air that is due to us. Enough of lame excuses day in and day out!

Just got back from the airport. While driving, I can see six aircrafts' landing lights, all beautifully line-up for a landing pattern over Runway 14L. Gosh! Un-believeable.

Hope this lasts!

Best in Klang 2009

Bak Kut Teh

For four years in a row, we have voted this outlet as our best. It is a very difficult choice to make because many BKT stalls are good too.

There are almost a hundred Bak Kut Teh stalls in and around Klang and we like this one because the BKT is delicious. It is a family-run business and the cook is always hands-on. The shop is well lighted, clean and the service IS fast even though it is always crowded to the brim.

We have tried every BKT shops in Klang and this place do not disappoint.

Bak Kut Teh is a Klang invention. A Malaysian dish. Period.
(Do not forget to ask for fried shallots to add to the rice.)

The original BKT is served in small individual bowls and the serious players & die-hards still look towards this style. Many prefers the 'claypot' version mainly due to eating in groups and families.

Our HD Video presentation is on Teluk Pulai (Pottery) Bak Kut Teh located in Sungei Rasah, Klang. It is located after the Sg. Rasah Toll, keep left, turn left for the traffic lights and turn right.
The Google earth GPS co-ordinance is as follows:- 3 degrees 03'22.92"N and 101degrees 28' 27.60"E. Please click HERE to view the HD Video at Youtube.

Oh-Nine,Oh-Nine,Oh-Nine,Oh-My!

Suck That Squirrel!

Almost fell off my 'throne' this morning while reading the newspaper in the toilet.

I know, today is 090909 and the most funniest( & malu-est) thing that can happen in an animal clinic here in Malaysia. It was reported that a veterinarian was arrested for raising the pet squirrel owner's body temperature . Read Here.

You see, a teacher took her pet for a check up because her squirrel had a high fever. The 52 year old Vet, maybe having a hearing problem, got it all wrong. He inspected, groped and sucked her breast instead. Also gave her some advice how to take care of her breasts! Huh? Then afterwards, he told her no need to pay for the 'treatment' and asked her, not her squirrel, to come back again! Dumb fark what ever for? So that 'his' squirrel and attend to her the next time around? She called the cops.
And guess what?

The poor squirrel died later.....of shock!

I am also worried. You see, I have a pet Batam Cock and our Vet is a lady. My Batam Cock is not feeling to well nowadays due to the weather......................?

You Tube

Finally in Full HD

Was working hard in trying to upload full HD video clips to You Tube since obtaining a Camcorder with AVCHD .m2ts files.
Produced 50 over clips but none got through in full 1080 HD format. Uploaded two clips yesterday and it was sucessful!
The Air Asia's plane landing at KLIA, I believe, is the first ever done on Full HD Video and it is the first time appearing on You Tube.

The other one was a 'golden' Gulf Air . To enjoy the clip, please select 'watch in HD' and let the streaming process complete first.
The Panasonic HDC TM300 Full HD camcorder is an excellent equipment. This stands out of the other brands because of its 'Manual overide' function giving it a very professional standard. It has twin solid state memory instead of a Hard Disk Drive. Was heavily testing and roughing it out for the last four months. The 3CMOS sensors of 1/4" is superb. The Leica lenses are very detailed too.
As for the software and after trying it out, I have decided on the Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack. It is easy to use with many drag & drop features. My 2 year old Dell Inspiron 15.1" with T7500 2.2GHz chip, work flawlessly. No problemo.
Please look out for more Full HD Video clips soon.

Yup, nothing special

Just Another Monday

So, it is supposed to be a special day today.
But I do not feel it. I think I've have lost this special feeling many years ago.

The Americans had theirs, the Sinkaporeans also had theirs and many fully cultured and matured countries have theirs. And what is our country so different in the celebration?

I believe I need not say it out loud because many of us already know why. The so called 'spirit of celebration' is looking artificial every year and 'patriotism' to us, seemed to lose its meaning every time. So just what do this day mean to so many of us? I am already in my late 50s and born before 1957. Do I not qualify to feel what real 'independence' is all about?
From one colonial master to another?
I just don't have it anymore.
Just don't blame me.
Maybe, just go to Sim Kwang Yang's bogsite 'Hornbill Unleashed' to learn how to 'feel good' about our Merdeka Day today.

Anyway, have a nice day today yah?
It is the same old 'Black" Monday

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Shhhhh!

Quiet Sunday!

Except for an occasional tweet from our resident Magpies and some cheeeep from our Sunbirds, it is a very quiet day today. Maybe everyone's preparing for the Merdeka Day on Monday.

Monday, Black Monday.

It's Hot Today!

Interesting Saturday?

Phew! It is gonna get hotter each minute today.
With the news of yesterday's 'cow head' protest and Malaysia Today's article, this Merdeka celebrations is going to look very interesting.

Anyway, am enjoying our freshly baked English Scones, home-made Strawberry jam, Fortnum and Mason's 'Wild Cut' Orange Marmalade jam and Hai Peng coffee!
Yummy!
Better rain in the afternoon to cool things down.

Sizzling Day!

Bring Out the Coffee!

Since Malaysia Today say that it is going to be 'Sizzling' tomorrow, I am going to bring out the coffee and wait!

We have been enjoying traditional Malaysian "Black" hainan coffee since time immemorial , we have always have the three brands available in our home larder.
Our choice goes to the following:-

1) Hai Peng Coffee from Kemaman (Strong and have extra Ooomph!)
2) 434 coffee from Muar (Light & Easy)
3) Train Brand from Penang (just nice and thick ) the runners up are:- Aik Cheong from Malacca & TV Brand from Kluang.

The above are packed in satchets either with sugar or without. These are pure Hainan coffee and are not 'white' coffee or pure powdered originals like "Blue Mountain".

Is it Original?

Penang Fried Kuih Teow.

When in Penang, many would not miss the fried kuih teow which have made Penang so famous. Although every stall that fries the Kuih Teow in Penang are lips smacking, did you know that the original fried kuih teow is from KL?

Way back in the late 1950s, especially at eateries and foodstalls, the people in the older part of Kuala Lumpur around Pudu, the original "See-Hum Chow-Fun" (cockle fried kuih teow) with the main ingredient as cockles, breans sprout, chives and added chilli to taste. Duck eggs were used also. It is also darker in color with added dark soy-sauce. Similar dish are also served in Ipoh and Seremban.

Today, the Penang's version with added large shrimps is 'the' dish. It is already an icon of Penang's list of best food. Below is a video shot in SS2,PJ. Uncle Peter's Penang Fried Kuih Teow is located at the previous Cheow Yang Restaurant now called Restaurant Lim Brothers.

Video Light and Battery..part2

New LED Video Light

The newly ordered LED light panel consists of 70 [10mm] LEDs is being used now to test its efficiency.

I find it good because it is ultra-light weight and have a long battery operating life in between charge. It came with 4 barndoors with reflectors on the inside. This gives added brightness at a certain flipped angle. Although LED lighting have less 'punch' compared with a single quartz halogen, I like it because it has practically no heat and is less glaring.

As for this, I would only use it for close range illumination and not for group shots of 4m and above.

You can see the video I shot with this LED light at yesterday's posting of a food blog here.

There is no problem with the daylight side lighting and the LEDs color temperature is around 5000K.

Not found in Klang

A Traditional
Fish Dish

Was in Sungei Buloh visiting a friend's factory and was treated to lunch.

The main dish brings sweet memories especially during the 70's. This old traditional steam fishhead dish was a delicacy especially to the 'old' areas off Sungei besi, Pudu, Cheras and Salak South in Kuala Lumpur. We missed this more after we have moved to Klang.

Fresh water fishes such as the Chinese Grass Carp and the Bighead Carp are steamed together with light soy sauce or with grated young ginger or with tauchu (fermented soy beans). It was good that they kept to the traditional receipe.

Please go to my youtube link for the HD video as this blogsite cannot display the high resolution. The down-streaming from our internet service provider suxs!

Urgent Message

Bloody Broadband

It took me 12hrs to post a blog. It failed many times. I gave up.
It could be because of the many text and pictures I usually blog. (Honestly, is it that many?)Uploading to youtube also hanged! If this message goes thru, then I am lucky.

If this is what Malaysian Broadband is all about, then we are in deep shit!

All the bull talk about broadband. The funny thing is that whenever they launch a new brand supposedly called PeeOne etc, they would be covering in the SAME area where people have ALREADY GOT better speed and coverage in the first place. When any newer future brand opens again, the same happens! The people in the same area gets another brand.

Just what about the others? It also look like when the HSBB opens in 2 years time, the SAME people gets another choice! Fcuk you GORMEN! You are all lame and brainless pricks!
Now we also know how many of them got their Doctorates and Masters! Bloody cheats!

I may not want to blog anymore. It is highly frustrating.

Yah, GORMEN, go ahead and censor/filter the net.

Foreigners, welcome to your second home! Broadband cheats & Asstro Suxs! No entertainment of world class. They do not like "Orang Puteh culture" here!
Maybe it would be better to count all the remaining white hairs you have left or better still, pick up and count lice while you are at it!

Free Advertising Space!

Up for grabs! Thousands of kilometres advertising space free of charge! Contact your local Highway Operators now!

Do any of us realise that our dear country is going down the dumps? Just where is Law and Order? We already have Ah Longs driving us, including all MPs (Majlis Perbandarans) & Ms. Daisy, crazy by doing the "stick & remove" hide and seek.
Now, by accident, I discovered that the side crash barriers and railings are 'stenciled' with mobile phone numbers offering help should a car or motorbike break down.
Yes ,we have first class facilities but the mentality of such people are truly 3rd. class!
Just where are the capable 'Authorities'? What about the bosses, supervisors and managers of the Toll operators ? Do they have no disclipine and clout to 'arrest' such people too? Or perhaps, being disciplined is also, another "orang puteh" culture?

Hey AAM! You've got competitors!
